A slew of breakups rocked the celebrity world throughout 2025. In January, two months after first sparking split rumors, Jessica Simpson announced that she and Eric Johnson had called it quits after 10 years of marriage. “Eric and I have been living separately navigating a painful situation in our marriage,” she told Luxury Handbag Shopping in a statement. “Our children come first, and we are focusing on what is best for them. We are grateful for all of the love and support that has been coming our way, and appreciate privacy right now as we work through this as a family.” As the year went on, more couples called it quits, including Next Gen NYC star Ariana Biermann and boyfriend Hudson McLeroy, as well as Benito Skinner and boyfriend Terrence O’Connor.

In November, The Real Housewives of Atlanta alum Kandi Burruss and Todd Tucker split after 11 years of marriage. Us confirmed that same month that Bachelor in Paradise’s Dale Moss and Kat Izzo had broken up. One month later, news broke that Love Island USA’s Chelley Bissainthe and Ace Greene had split.

Mel Gibson and Rosalind Ross announced on December 30 that they were separating after nine years together.

“Although it’s sad to end this chapter in our lives, we are blessed with a beautiful son and will continue to be the best parents possible,” the former couple shared in a statement to People.

Amy Schumer and Chris Fischer

Amy Schumer confirmed on December 12 that she was splitting from husband Chris Fischer.

"Blah blah blah Chris and I have made the difficult decision to end our marriage after 7 years," Schumer announced via Instagram. "We love each other very much and will continue to focus on raising our son. We would appreciate people respecting our privacy at this time."

Love Island USA’s Chelley Bissainthe confirmed her breakup with Ace Greene during a December episode of SiriusXM’s Page Six Radio.

“It really was a tough decision for the both of us and very hard to decide, but, you know, when you love someone, sometimes loving someone means letting go, so I think we just got to that decision,” she shared. “Couples go through things that are very challenging, and sometimes the best thing to do is just make a decision that needs to be made.”

Bronwyn Newport and Todd Bradley

A rep for Bronwyn Newport confirmed the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star’s separation from husband Todd Bradley after nine years of marriage.

“After thoughtful consideration, Bronwyn Newport and Todd Bradley have separated,” a statement to People read on December 12. “This was a mutual decision made with care and respect for one another. They ask for privacy during this time.”

Alix Earle and Braxton Berrios

A source told Us on December 6 that TikToker Alix Earle and NFL star Braxton Berrios broke up after nearly two years together.

“Majority of their relationship was long-distance and it was hard for them to navigate,” a source told Us. “They mutually agreed on the split.”

Alexa and Brennon Lemieux

Love Is Blind season 3 stars Alexa and Brennon Lemieux confirmed their separation on December 3.

“After much reflection and many heartfelt conversations, we have made the difficult decision to end our marriage,” a joint Instagram statement read. “This choice was not made lightly, and it comes with a great deal of care, respect, and appreciation for the time we’ve shared. We entered this relationship with love and optimism, and we leave it with gratitude for the experiences that shaped us and the growth we each gained along the way.”

In the statement, Alexa and Brennon stressed that they remained “devoted” to coparenting their daughter, Vienna, who was born in summer 2024.

Scott Shriner and Jillian Lauren Shriner

Luxury Handbag Shopping confirmed on December 2 that Weezer bassist Scott Shriner’s wife, Jillian Lauren Shriner, filed for divorce from husband of 20 years. 

The news came eight months after Jillian was arrested for attempted murder after a police shootout in Los Angeles. Jillian had been married to Scott for 20 years and the pair share two children.

"After deep thought and a lot of prayer, I’ve made the decision to move forward with a divorce. Less than one week after Selling the OC season 4 premiered on Netflix in November, Alex Hall confirmed she was no longer with her boyfriend.

Benito Skinner announced via his “Ride” podcast on October 22 that he and Terrence O’Connor broke up after nine years of dating.

“Terry and I are no longer together,” he revealed. “I will say that we both just love each other so much, and have so much love and respect for each other. We treated each other with love and respect until the end. So I just want to make that really clear.”

A rep for Kelsea Ballerini confirmed to Us on September 14 that the couple broke up after nearly three years of dating.

Just two days earlier, Chase Stokes shared a sweet birthday tribute for Ballerini’s 32nd birthday.

“Although you keep saying you’re not excited for 32, I’d say I’m lookin’ forward to more of this,” he wrote via Instagram on September 12. “Happy birthday, my love.”

The “Don’t Matter” singer’s wife, Tomeka Thiam, reportedly filed for divorce on September 11, just four days before their 29th wedding anniversary.

Tomeka requested joint legal custody of their 17-year-old child but asked for sole physical custody, according to TMZ. Akon, whose real name is Aliaune Thiam, has at least nine kids with multiple women.

The news of the couple’s split came just over a year after the rapper exclusively told Luxury Handbag Shopping that “trust” was the secret to their long-term relationship. Tomeka, for her part, said “loyalty and commitment” were key to staying together during the June 2024 interview.

Us confirmed on September 11 that Benson Boone and his girlfriend, Maggie Thurmon, had broken up after nearly two years together.

Former Bachelor Andrew Firestone and his wife, Ivana Firestone, announced their split via Instagram on August 30.

After rumors swirled of a split, Amaya Espinal revealed that she and Bryan Arenales were “no longer together” after winning Love Island season 7.

Today host Dylan Dreyer announced on July 18 that she and Brian Fichera called it quits after 12 years of marriage.

On July 7, Aaron Phypers filed for divorce from Denise Richards after six years of marriage.

According to court documents obtained by Luxury Handbag Shopping, Phypers cited irreconcilable differences as the reason for the split and asked the court to award him spousal support.

Oscar-winning actress Marion Cotillard and French film director Guillaume Canet announced their separation after 18 years together with a joint statement shared by their reps in June via the Agence France-Presse news agency.

“After 18 years together, Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet have decided to separate by mutual agreement,” the couple said in the translated statement. “This decision was made with mutual goodwill.”

The pair first started dating in 2007 and share two children, Marcel, 13, and Louise, 8, together.

Craig Conover confirmed on June 25 that he is single, just weeks after Luxury Handbag Shopping reported the Southern Charm star and Natalie Buffett were not “exclusive.” Conover confessed on an episode of “The Toast” podcast that he “wasn’t ready to date” after his 2024 split from Paige DeSorbo.

Conover and Buffett were initially linked in February, after knowing each other for years prior. They dated about four months before parting ways. Conover called Buffett a “wonderful person” but noted he has “some healing to do.”

Us confirmed on June 25 that Katy Perry and Orlando Bloom called it quits after nearly 10 years together, six years after they got engaged.

“Katy and Orlando have split but are amicable,” a source close to the pair exclusively told Us. “It’s not contentious at the moment.”

Australian fitness influencer Tammy Hembrow, who married Matt Zukowski in November 2024, announced their separation on June 21 after seven months of marriage.

“I don’t want to get into details, and I’m not one to try and bring anyone down. I just want to be sensitive to everyone involved,” Hembrow said. “I don’t want to talk about anyone other than myself, to be honest. Did I think this would happen? No. Did I want this? Melrose Place alum Courtney Thorne-Smith reportedly filed for divorce from her talent manager husband Roger Fishman in June after 18 years of marriage. Interestingly, Thorne-Smith purportedly mentioned in her court petition that the couple split in September 2021, but she was only now pursuing a divorce.

The couple, who wed in 2007, are parents to 17-year-old son Jacob Emerson Fishman. Thorne-Smith has declined to pursue spousal support from Fishman and has requested joint legal and physical custody of their son.

Lilly Ghalichi and Dara Mir

Former Shahs of Sunset star Lilly Ghalichi filed for divorce from Dara Mir on June 20, according to court docs obtained by TMZ. Ghalichi listed the date of separation as June 19.

Mir initially filed for divorce from Ghalichi in August 2019. Although they briefly reconciled, Ghalichi then filed for divorce the following year but later walked it back. The couple welcomed their second child in June 2022, three years before parting ways again.

Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa

Less than three months after their engagement aired in March, Grant Ellis and Juliana Pasquarosa confirmed their split.

"This is one of the harder things I've had to write, but I want to share it honestly. Juliana and I have decided to end our relationship," Grant wrote via Instagram in June. "We both gave this our best and poured a lot of love into each other, but after a lot of deep conversations, we've come to the understanding that we're simply not the right fit long term."

He continued: "There's no negativity here. No resentment. Just two people who care about each other and want the best for one another moving forward. I'll always be grateful for what we shared and for the growth that came with it."

Lydia Velez Gonzalez and Milton Johnson

Lydia Velez Gonzalez confirmed on the June 11 episode of the “What’s the Reality?” podcast that she and Milton Johnson separated after two years of marriage.

“I have decided [to] file for divorce against Milton. It wasn’t one thing. It was a layer of situations and things that just kept piling up,” she claimed. “When I asked him or told him, ‘Hey, I’ll let you know when the divorce papers are ready,’ his response was, ‘I’m not going to sign the papers unless there’s an NDA.’ That said enough for me to know that I needed to share my truth and my experience because I’ve been suffering in silence, [which] has been too much for me.”

Johnson, who proposed on season 5 of Love Is Blind, has not publicly addressed his estranged wife’s claims or their separation.

Kayla Rae Reid announced on June 4 that she and Olympian Ryan Lochte had separated earlier in the year.

“Earlier this year, I made the hard decision to end my marriage after deep prayer and reflection,” Reid wrote via Instagram. “I hold marriage in the highest regard, so this has been one of the most painful, revealing and challenging seasons of my life.”

Coldplay frontman Chris Martin and Fifty Shades of Grey actress Dakota Johnson called off their engagement and split after nearly eight years together, People reported on June 4.

The notoriously private couple were last seen together when they stepped out in Malibu, California, on May 16.

Both Fortune Feimster and Jacquelyn ‘Jax’ Smith announced on June 2 that their relationship was coming to an end after nearly five years of marriage.

Social media couple Tyler Bergantino and Gabby Gonzalez called it quits seven months after their meet-cute went viral on TikTok. “Gabby and I broke up.
