The FBI has renewed a call for information on the disappearance of a missing Mississippi girl, who vanished at age 2 while playing outside her home 12 years ago, according to the agency.
The FBI is now offering up to a $20,000 reward for any tips that could lead to the location of little Myra Lewis, the agency said in a news release issued Sunday, March 1, which is exactly 12 years after she vanished.
Myra’s family members last saw her playing outside in Camden, Mississippi, where she lived, between 10:30 and 11:00 a.m. the morning of March 1, 2014, according to the FBI. Camden is about a 45-mile drive northeast from Jackson.
Myra had been wearing white or khaki pants, a turquoise sweater that had a bear on it, and pink shoes, the FBI said.
Today, Myra would be 14 years old.
Little information has been released by law enforcement on the circumstances of her disappearance. It is unclear whether anyone is suspected in connection with her missing persons case.
In 2022, Madison County Sheriff Randy Tucker told WLBT that authorities have not received substantial tips that could lead to her location.
“I can sit here today and tell you that we are absolutely no closer than we were day one when we arrived on the scene,” Tucker told the TV station at the time.
The sheriff also said that his agency has lost contact with Myra’s family members and have not been able to find them.
“They have moved away from the area, and our best efforts to locate them have gone unfruitful,” Tucker told WLBT in 2022. “The further you get away from the incident date itself, you know, the more you are concerned about finding her alive.”
The National Center for Missing & Exploited Children has released an age progressed image of what Myra might look like today.
The private non-profit organization works with law enforcement to help find missing children and teens and engages in efforts to combat child sexual exploitation and abuse.
In 2024, the center was involved in working with authorities on 29,568 cases of children reported missing. Of those cases, the organization said 91% of the children were found.
The National Child Protection Task Force estimates that over 350,000 children are reported missing in the U.S. every year.
The FBI is asking anyone with information on Myra to contact their local FBI office or the closest American Embassy or Consulate.
