Well-known Bravo aficionado Jon Hamm is sharing his unfiltered thoughts on that Summer House dating scandal between Amanda Batula, West Wilson, Kyle Cook and Ciara Miller.
“You know, I don’t really watch Summer House,” Hamm, who is famously more partial to The Real Housewives franchises, exclusively told Luxury Handbag Shopping while attending PaleyFest LA at the Dolby Theater in Hollywood to promote his hit Apple TV show Your Friends & Neighbors on Saturday, April 11.
“I know that kid West because he’s from Missouri, so I’ve talked to him on a red carpet,” he added. “Seems like a nice guy. Seems to be in over his head.”
The self-proclaimed “Bravoholic” continued, “That’s the tricky thing — I can’t imagine living your life with cameras in front of your face when you’re not on set. So I don’t know how — that must be tough. I feel for all of them.”
Amanda and West have been the target of intense online scrutiny after the pair confirmed their once-platonic relationship turned romantic, despite Amanda’s close friendship with Ciara (West’s ex), her failed marriage to estranged husband Kyle and the pair previously denying dating claims. (Amanda and Kyle called it quits in January after four years.)
“We’ve seen the growing online speculation, so while this is still very new, we wanted to provide some clarity,” Amanda and West wrote in a joint statement shared via social media on March 31. “It was never our intention to purposefully hide anything. Given the complicated relationship dynamics involved and the scrutiny that comes with being on a reality show, we needed a little space to process things privately before speaking on it.”
They continued at the time, “Our connection grew out of a genuine, longstanding friendship, which made it especially important for us to approach this with care. We wanted to take time to understand exactly what we were feeling.”
Kyle has since spoken out about the pair’s romance, telling Adam Glyn in an April 1 TikTok video that he is “actually really worried” about his ex.
“I talked to her last night, and I understand people have all sorts of opinions, and I’m not justifying any behavior, but, like, from what I’m seeing,” she’s getting cyberbullied,” he said.
On Friday, April 10, Amanda issued an apology to the people she has “disappointed and hurt” while mentioning her mental health.
“Hi guys, I’ll keep this short and sweet,” she shared via her Instagram Stories at the time. “I’ve obviously been MIA, but I wanted to come back on and say that I’m truly sorry to everyone I’ve disappointed and hurt, especially those I know personally who I’ve reached out to individually.”
She continued, “For the sake of my mental health, I’m going to try to start living life with some sense of normalcy. If you see me out or posting online, please know that this still weighs very heavily on me. I’m not ignoring what’s happened or what’s unfolded.”
While Hamm may not be the most up-to-date on the Summer House drama, he is diving into Bravo’s latest Housewives iteration, The Real Housewives of Rhode Island.
“I’ve watched a couple episodes. Yeah, it’s an interesting life,” he told Us on Saturday. “It’s a very interesting place. I’ve spent some time in Rhode Island. It’s got a lot of influences, I should say. So yeah, I’m looking forward to seeing where they go with that.”
