David Beckham had his son Brooklyn on his mind shortly before his 50th birthday celebration turned the family into chaos.
Before his big bash on Saturday, May 3, Beckham, 50, mentioned his wife, Victoria Beckham, and their four kids in a sentimental post via Instagram.
“My wife and best friend of 28 years and my beautiful children Brooklyn, Romeo, Cruz & Harper you are the reason I get out of bed each day thank you for making me smile and thank you for making me a better man,” he wrote on Friday, May 2. “I love you all so much and thank you for making today so special for me… You are my world 🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷🩷.”
The post also mentioned David’s parents and sisters and featured a carousel of photos from throughout his life, including candid shots of Victoria, 51, sons Brooklyn, 26, Romeo, 22, and Cruz, 20, and daughter Harper, 13.
The next day, however, Brooklyn was a no-show at David’s glitzy 50th birthday party in London.
A source exclusively told Luxury Handbag Shopping that Brooklyn and his wife, Nicola Peltz Beckham, requested a “separate” meet-up for David’s birthday due to a rift between Brooklyn and Romeo’s girlfriend, Kim Turnbull, who he started dating last year.
“David and Victoria are over it,” the source said. “They’ve thrown in the towel over the whole thing.”
The party was attended by the rest of the Beckham family, including Turnbull.
“David and Victoria just want to treat everyone the same and approach life like a family and the family does things a certain way,” the source explained. “But Brooklyn isn’t playing it like that, and everything is a drama.”
The source added, “They just tell the whole family there’s a party, ‘Here’s the time, here’s the date.’ It’s not that complicated. Everyone else seems OK with it.”
David and Victoria shared a bunch of photos via Instagram after the party, none of which made mention of Brooklyn. One joint post in particular tagged the social media accounts of Romeo, Cruz and Harper, but not Brooklyn.
“OK OK I promise this was the last party 😂,” David shared in another post on Monday, May 5. “Feeling very lucky to round off an amazing week celebrating my 50th with incredible friends , I think you can tell by my smile I enjoyed this… Thank you to everyone and especially my wife @victoriabeckham…We are still laughing and dancing after all these years ❤️.”
