A New Jersey elementary school teacher has been accused of sexually assaulting four children from the same family over a 13-year period, Luxury Handbag Shopping has learned.

Shaun Stebbins was arrested in Somers Point on six charges: first-degree aggravated sexual assault of a victim under the age of 13, first-degree permitting a child to engage in pornography, second-degree photographing a child in a sex act, second-degree endangering the welfare of a child by sexual conduct, third-degree showing obscene material to a minor, and fourth-degree criminal sexual contact.

Stebbins, 43, had been working as a pre-K teacher’s aide at Woodbine Elementary School. But by Tuesday, April 7, his name had been scrubbed from the school’s online staff directory, which lists a James Stebbins as the school janitor. It was unclear if the two men are related.

Calls to Woodbine Elementary seeking an update on his employment status were not returned Tuesday.

According to a post on the school’s Facebook page, Stebbins received their “Paraprofessional of the Year” award in 2024.

Atlantic County Prosecutor William E. Reynolds explained that his office was asked to assist in the investigation by Somers Point Police, who learned of the alleged abuse from one of the victims’ parents.

Reynolds said Stebbins has been accused of “showing pornography” to children and “creating pornography with a child under the age of 13.”

He is facing several decades in prison if convicted, Reynolds noted.

Investigators say the alleged abuse took place in Somers Point between 2014 and 2025, when all of the victims were 13 or younger.

“Really horrific,” Reynolds told reporters in announcing the arrest. “It’s one of the reasons why we’re here today is that there’s a total of 16 charges.”

One of the victims was 5 when Stebbins allegedly showed the child hardcore porn.

“This gentleman, based on my personal knowledge, he didn’t start in the school district until 2022,” Reynolds said. “So, while these crimes were occurring, he then obtained a position at the Woodbine School District.”

Stebbins was arrested on Sunday, April 5.

The relationship between the children and Stebbins was redacted from court documents, though warrants in the case characterized Stebbins as having a “supervisory” or caregiving role in the victims’ lives.

Information on pleas and Reynolds’ attorney were not available at press time.

Anyone who has information pertinent to the investigation is asked to call (609) 909-7800.

“As we have seen in other recent cases, individuals who prey on children often place themselves in positions of trust within schools, organizations, and youth programs to gain access to victims,” Reynolds said in a statement. “Out of an abundance of caution, we are alerting the public despite the holiday weekend and in advance of the scheduled detention hearing.”
