A man who once served as a North Carolina community’s chief of police is behind bars this week, accused of raping a 16-year-old girl.

William Chad Green was arrested on Sunday, April 6, on a single count of rape.

Local news stations, citing an arrest warrant in the case, reported that the 51-year-old allegedly raped the girl on Friday, April 4.

The warrant alleged that Green forced himself on the girl who “is mentally incapacitated or physically helpless.”

The warrant contends that Green should have known “or should have known that the victim was mentally incapacitated or physically helpless.”

Records showed the warrant was issued on Saturday, April 5, and that Green was arrested the next morning for second-degree forcible rape.

He was taken to the Stanly County jail where he sits on a $500,000 bond.

Green was once an officer with the Norwood Police Department in Stanly County, working there from September 2008 to May 2010. He later served as the Norwood police chief from August 2014 to June 2015.

The Oakboro Police Department also confirmed that Green was an officer with their police force at one time.

It was unclear if Green was asked for pleas or had retained an attorney who could address the allegations against him.

Lawless cops have been making a lot of headlines this year.

Benjamin Wagner has been charged in Michigan with 14 separate counts, including eight counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and five counts of kidnapping. All of his alleged victims were between the ages of 15 and 23 at the time of their sexual assaults.

Police claim Wagner, 68, is a serial rapist who was active between 1999 and 2003, when he was a member of the Detroit Police Department.
