Florida Firefighter’s Alleged ‘Decade-Long Pattern’ of Producing Child Porn Lands Him in Prison

Firefighter Sentenced to Prison for Producing Child Pornography
Santa Rosa County Jail

A former Florida firefighter is prison-bound after law enforcement discovered his “decade-long pattern of producing and possessing child pornography,” according to federal prosecutors.

Garey A. Buscaino, of Pensacola, was sentenced to 75 years in federal prison on child pornography related charges, the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Northern District of Florida said in a Wednesday, March 4, news release.

Buscaino’s sentencing comes after he was busted by the Florida Department of Law Enforcement in May 2025, according to the agency. He had been working as an Escambia County firefighter at the time of his arrest.

In October 2025, Buscaino agreed to plead to five federal counts of child pornography production and one count of child pornography possession, court records viewed by Luxury Handbag Shopping show.

“Protecting our children from exploitation and the predations of sick individuals like this offender remains one of my office’s highest priorities,” U.S. Attorney John P. Heekin said in a statement on Buscaino’s sentencing. “I deeply appreciate the outstanding investigative work of our state and federal law enforcement partners who helped stop this predator from continuing to sexually exploit minor children and brought him to justice.”

Buscaino’s defense attorney, James Martinez Burns, did not immediately return a request for comment from Us on March 4.

The case against Buscaino was brought after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children alerted the Florida Department of Law Enforcement about someone in Northwest Florida possessing child pornography, according to prosecutors.

The Florida Department of Law Enforcement said in a May 2025 news release that agents were notified of “child sexual exploitation files” being uploaded to a “cloud account” belonging to Buscaino.

After securing a search warrant, investigators reviewed the account and found that Buscaino had child pornography he’d downloaded “from the internet,” as well as sexually explicit content of minor females who appeared to be secretly filmed on a hidden camera, prosecutors said.

As a result, authorities served search warrants at Buscaino’s home and the firehouse where he worked and obtained his electronic devices, according to prosecutors.

“Those seized devices were determined to contain hidden camera-produced pornography videos of five minor females in various states of undressing in bedrooms and bathrooms, as well as thousands of graphic images and videos of child sexual abuse material from the internet,” prosecutors said. “Some of these images and videos captured victims as young as toddlers being sexually abused.”

According to the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, Buscaino had multiple secret video cameras.

Buscaino was ultimately fired from his job as a firefighter due to the criminal case, the Pensacola News Journal reported.

As part of his sentence, he must pay about $30,000 in restitution to his victims, including several who appeared at his sentencing hearing, according to the U.S. Attorney’s Office. He must also register as a lifetime sex offender.
