Theresa Randle, an actress who starred in 1990s films Bad Boys and Malcom X, was arrested this month over an alleged domestic violence incident, Luxury Handbag Shopping has confirmed.
According to records viewed by TMZ, which first reported on Randle’s arrest, she was detained on March 1 on a charge of corporal injury to a spouse or cohabitant. She was reportedly released from custody as a result of there not being enough evidence, according to TMZ.
In response to an inquiry from Us on Friday, March 27, a Los Angeles Police Department public information officer confirmed via email that LAPD central officers arrested Randle, 61, on a “felony domestic violence” offense on March 1.
When asked about the status of criminal charges against Randle, the LAPD public information officer referred Us to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office.
Venusse D. Dunn, a spokesperson for the district attorney’s office, said in an emailed statement to Us that the office’s “Family Violence Division reviewed [Randle’s] case for felony filing consideration.”
“It did not meet the threshold for felony filing and the case was referred to the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office for misdemeanor filing consideration on March 3,” Dunn said.
Randle did not immediately return a request for comment from Us on March 27.
It is unclear what led to Randle’s arrest on March 1, as authorities have not shared further details on the alleged domestic violence incident.
March 1 marked Randle’s second arrest within two years.
In October 2024, Randle was arrested after she was suspected of felony assault, the Los Angeles Times reported. The Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office ultimately decided against pursuing charges against her, according to the newspaper.
That month, Randle was taken into custody after she was accused of hitting someone she had gotten into an argument with, according to authorities, the newspaper reported.
The victim reported the alleged assault two days afterward, an LAPD public information officer previously told the Los Angeles Times.
In addition to starring alongside Will Smith and Martin Lawrence in Bad Boys, which premiered in 1995, Randle also starred in Bad Boys II and Bad Boys for Life, which came out in 2020.
She did not appear in the latest film in the series, Bad Boys: Ride or Die.
Actress Tasha Smith replaced Randle in that movie, which came out in 2024.
