Aaron Carter’s mom was involved in a recent fight with the late pop star’s estate over the value of the assets he left behind, Luxury Handbag Shopping can exclusively report.

On January 22, Aileen Federizo, the rep for Carter’s estate, revealed details of the dispute in new court docs.

Federizo claimed Carter’s mom, Jane Schneck, did not agree with the estimated value of the rights to the singer’s name, photograph and likeness. She believed the asset was worth at least $30,000. The rep for the estate did not agree.

The rep explained that the estate was “insolvent” because Carter owed $164,228.41 in back taxes, plus interest and penalties, to the Internal Revenue Service, and another $87,106.69 in back taxes to the California Franchise Tax Board.

In the filing, Federizo stated that Schneck did not explain how “the sale of [Carter’s] name, voice, signature, photograph and likeness would benefit [Carter’s]” son, Princeton.

Princeton, whom Carter had with his ex Melanie Martin, is the only beneficiary of the estate. “There was no proposal to pay any money to the estate that would be sufficient to make the estate solvent or to otherwise benefit the minor heir.”

The estate rep asked the court to turn over all remaining assets, after debts are paid, to Princeton.

Per a December 2024 report, the rep explained Carter did not have many assets at the time of his death on November 5, 2022, at the age of 34. ( The singer was found dead in the master bathtub at his home in Lancaster, California. Officials determined Carter’s death was caused by accidental drowning after inhaling difluoroethane and taking alprazolam.)

The estate faced other claims brought by Wells Fargo for $2,800, which was resolved, and another for $19,000.

At the time, the rep said Princeton would receive around $16,296 in royalties and $6,120 in personal property. “The remaining personal property items, if sold, would likely not generate much for the estate,” the rep explained to the court.

The report noted Carter’s gun collection was sold off as part of the probate case. His home was also sold off but it only generated a $7,000 profit.

As Us previously reported, Martin filed a wrongful death lawsuit against Carter’s doctor and dentist, who denied all allegations of wrongdoing in the case. The case is ongoing.

Schneck and Martin have not seen eye to eye since Carter’s death. On December 3, 2025, Martin posted a message on social media claiming Scheck was trying to steal Princeton’s inheritance. “Hi guys, I’m just going to say it straight up: Aaron’s mother is trying to gain rights to Prince’s inheritance and his name,” she wrote.

Martin said she would be “working extra hard” to “pay for all the court fees and ensure my son gets Aaron’s rightful inheritance.”

Scheck did not respond to the claims made by Martin. As Us first reported, Carter’s brother, Nick Carter, is facing legal troubles over alleged sexual assault, which he adamantly denied.
