Justin Guarini

Justin Guarini is an American singer, actor and television personality best known as the runner-up on the inaugural season of American Idol. Guarini was raised in Doylestown, Pennsylvania, by his mother and stepfather. He joined multiple choirs throughout his childhood, fostering an early love for music and performance. He attended the University of the Arts in Philadelphia, where he studied vocal performance before moving to New York City to study drama.

Guarini rose to fame in 2002 on American Idol, finishing second to Kelly Clarkson in the show’s first season. His popularity led to a recording contract and a starring role alongside Clarkson in the musical film From Justin to Kelly.

Following his reality TV success, Guarini released his self-titled debut album in 2003 and continued working in music, television and theater. He appeared on Broadway in productions including American Idiot (2011) and Romeo and Juliet (2013) and took on hosting and acting roles across various TV projects. He later became widely recognized for his appearances in Dr Pepper commercials as the character Lil’ Sweet.

Guarini married Reina Capodici in 2009. The couple share two children: son William Neko Bell Guarini (born in 2011) and son Asher Guarini (born in 2013). The pair quietly split in 2026.
