The 2025 Met Gala red carpet was rolled out at the Metropolitan Museum of Art on Monday, May 5, in New York, for fashion’s biggest night.
While the annual affair celebrates the spring 2025 costume exhibition and theme, “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style,” the Met Gala 2025 dress code is “Tailored for You.” Put simply, guests are encouraged to embrace looks that reflect their personal sense of style.
Teyana Taylor was among the first to arrive, outfitted in a custom Marc Jacobs pinstripe suit with a burgundy velvet vest that matched her strong-shouldered cape with a sweeping train and her accessories: a fedora with a feather and a coordinating cane.
Meanwhile, Emma Chamberlain also got the pinstripe memo in a custom Courrèges navy gown with a backless silhouette. Inspired by a deconstructed men’s suit, Chamberlain’s attire featured cutouts at the waist to highlight her feminine curves. She paired it with Stuart Wetizman heels, sheer black gloves and a small pair of vintage round spectacles that she sourced on eBay.
Naturally, Vogue’s Editor in Chief Anna Wintour nodded to the exhibition’s display of impeccable tailoring and thoughtful attention to detail in a custom Louis Vuitton coat-and-dress combination with a heart-shaped brooch pinned to one of the peak lapels. Underneath the outerwear was an intricately embroidered bespoke silk gown and her signature Manolo Blahnik heels.
