It looks like voluminous hair will be back in action at the 2025 Victoria’s Secret fashion show.
The brand promised fans that sleek styles will not be featured on the runway this year after many naysayers were upset to see the style taking over the 2024 show. “We solemnly swear,” the label wrote over a clip of models getting their hair blown out, “To not slick back the hair.”
“*Slowly backs away from the hair gel*,” the official Victoria’s Secret account playfully captioned their Instagram post on Thursday, September 25. Fans were quick to celebrate in the comments section.
“Yes!!! FINALLY! They heard us😍,” one wrote, while a second added, “WAR IS OVER.” A third gushed, “thank goodness. the bombshell blowouts are just too iconic to skip past!” Even model Jasmine Tookes got in on the fun and commented, “😂 .”
Victoria’s Secret’s message came after many models, including Candice Swanopel and Adriana Lima, were seen wearing polished updos at the 2024 show.
Lima, 44, for her part, first stunned in a plaid black-and-white set featuring skin-tight leggings and long sleeves. She teamed the design with a black sparkling bra and coordinating panties. Lima added even more drama to her ensemble with large butterfly wings.
The OG Angel then changed into a little red dress for her second look.
While fans adored her outfit, they weren’t here for her tight ponytail.
“Idk who’s responsible for this but a slick back is NOT the hairstyle for lingerie,” one wrote via X in October 2024, following the show. Another added, “We’re losing the recipe.”
Another social media user agreed that they were against the ponytails. “I’ve never seen anyone wear lingerie + a slick back hairstyle. You’re supposed to wear your hair down or at least have some volume to match what you’re wearing, it’s about looking alluring and fun,” the person commented. More were wondering “where” the blowouts went.
Another star who had her hair in the controversial style was Gigi Hadid. She opened the show in a bubblegum pink romper equipped with a plunging neckline and high-cut legs. Hadid, 30, glammed up her look with matching mechanical wings that opened as she walked.
For glam, she donned soft, glowy makeup with her blonde hair parted to the side and gelled down with her ends curled.
Later in the show, she changed into a red sheer bodysuit, which she styled with a voluminous boa.
While some models didn’t style their mane in blowouts, a number still wore the iconic look.
Take Irina Shayk, for example, who strutted down the catwalk with her brunette hair parted down the middle and twisted into voluminous curls. She paired the blowout with a sheer star-embellished bodysuit.
Barbara Palvin also wore her long caramel tresses down and worn in loose curls that flowed as she walked down the runway.
This year, Lima is confirmed to be in the show again, along with Alex Consani, Yumi Nu, Joan Smalls, Lily Aldridge and Anok Yai. The show is set to take place on October 15 in Brooklyn.
