King Charles III fully emerged himself in Scottish culture.

Charles, 76, stepped out at a reception for Caithness Communities in Thurso, Scotland, while rocking a knee-length kilt on Monday, July 28. The design featured a red fabric adorned with green, yellow and white plaid stripes. It was finished with plates on one side and a frayed hem on the other.

Charles teamed the kilt with red knit socks, patent leather dress shoes and a white shirt. He completed his ensemble with a gray vest, a matching blazer, a red-and-green striped tie and a silk pocket square.

Charles is no stranger to rocking a kilt while he’s visiting Scotland. Earlier this month, he paired a blue striped number with a plaid blazer at Campbeltown Town Hall.

In 2024, Charles and Queen Camilla matched each other while attending the Braemar Gathering. The couple both opted for blue ensembles. Charles, for his part, looked sharp in a blue kilt with red crosses, while Camilla, 78, was elegant in an azure dress decorated with feathers.

Back in 1997, he explored Balmoral Castle in the Scottish Highlands with his sons, Prince Charles and Prince Harry, whom he shared with the late Princess Diana. While hiking, Charles rocked a green-and-yellow kilt, a look he elevated with a lime knit.

Charles also wore kilts while he was with Diana, who died at age 36 in 1997 in a car crash. In 1981, the duo posed at the Balmoral Castle in timeless outfits. Charles opted for a teal V-neck sweater with a green undershirt and a dark, fitted kilt. Diana, meanwhile, chose a plaid skirt, which she matched with a jacket featuring the same print.
