Jennifer Lawrence on Oscars 2013 Dior Dress: Haute Couture Is a “Big Deal”

Jennifer Lawrence does high fashion beautifully in the latest Miss Dior campaign.

In the photographs taken by Patrick Demarchelier for her third campaign, Lawrence, 23, poses with a pale pink quilted chain-link bag in a strapless printed dress. In another, she wears a suit and clutches a multi-colored animal-print bag. Her short hair appears windswept while her makeup is kept in neutral tones with taupe eyeshadow and nude lip color.

In a video for the campaign, the American Hustle Oscar nominee reflects on her Dior gown from the 2013 Academy Awards, which she famously tripped on while making her way to accept the statuette. “I saw a picture of it from the runway, and it was one of the most beautiful dresses I’d ever seen,” the Silver Linings Playbook actress and Oscar winner says.

She also describes her visit to the atelier to see the gown being hand-stitched. “Now I get the haute couture thing. It’s a big deal,” she says. At the 2013 Golden Globes, Lawrence quipped of her strapless red gown, “It’s Dior Haute Couture. I don’t know what ‘haute’ means, but I have to say it.”
