When Bad Bunny hits the stage for the Super Bowl 60 halftime show, President Trump — perhaps unsurprisingly — plans on changing the channel.

“I think the President would much prefer a Kid Rock performance over Bad Bunny, I must say that,” White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt said on Thursday, February 5.

Trump, 79, plans on watching the Super Bowl at Mar-a-Lago in Palm Beach, Florida, on Sunday, February 8, which will see the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks facing off at Levi’s Stadium in Santa Clara, California.

Kid Rock has been announced as the headliner for The All-American Halftime Show on Sunday, a show curated by Turning Point USA, the political organization started by late conservative activist Charlie Kirk

Turning Point’s halftime show will also feature performances from country music stars Lee Brice, Brantley Gilbert and Gabby Barrett

The show is meant as alternative programming to the actual Super Bowl halftime show headlined by Puerto Rican megastar Bad Bunny, who performs almost exclusively in Spanish.

Trump has criticized the NFL’s decision to have Bad Bunny perform on multiple occasions.

“I’ve never heard of him,” Trump told Newsmax in October 2025. “I don’t know who he is. I don’t know why they’re doing it. It’s, like, crazy.”

The president added, “I think it’s absolutely ridiculous.”

Last month, Trump said Bad Bunny performing at halftime and Green Day slated for the Super Bowl 60 opening ceremony was enough for him to skip attending the Super Bowl in person.

“I’m anti-them,” Trump told The New York Post in an interview published on Friday, January 23. “I think it’s a terrible choice. All it does is sow hatred. Terrible.”

Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong has long been outspoken about his distaste for Trump.

Bad Bunny slyly addressed critics of his halftime show during a press conference on Thursday, February 5, specifically his message that English speakers had “four months” to learn Spanish before the big show.

“They don’t even have to learn Spanish,” Bad Bunny said during the Apple Music Super Bowl LX Halftime Show Press Conference. “It’s better they learn to dance. There’s no better dance than the one that comes from the heart. That’s the only thing that they need to worry about.”

He added, “I just want people to have fun.”

On the brink of the biggest performance of his career, Bad Bunny got emotional during the press conference on Thursday when discussing his mother, Lysaurie Ocasio.

“She believed in me, and I’m not talking about my music career,” Bad Bunny said. “I’m just talking about everything. She believed in me as a person, as a human. She believed in my decisions, in my opinions, in my taste, in my choices.”

With tears swelling in his eyes, he added, “She believed I could be a good person. I think that it was what got me here, you know?”

Super Bowl 60 between the Patriots and Seahawks kicks off Sunday at 6:30 ET on NBC and Peacock.
