From their first Instagram appearance in Hawaii to a New Jersey wedding and now a baby on the way, Matt Fitzpatrick and his wife, Katherine Fitzpatrick, have a love story that keeps getting sweeter.

And the timing behind their latest news couldn’t have been any better.

Katherine, 34, shared the news fans had been waiting for. On March 31, she took to Instagram to announce that she and her husband Matt, 31, are expecting their first baby.

“We can’t wait to meet our baby,” she wrote in the caption, showing off her baby bump.

The photos were especially meaningful for followers of PGA Tour WAGs culture: they were captured by Maya Schauffele, the wife of American golfer Xander Schauffele. The collaboration between the two golf wives added a personal, behind-the-scenes feel that resonated with fans who follow the tight-knit world of Tour families.

Matt and Katherine Fitzpatrick’s Relationship Timeline

It’s unclear when Matt and Katherine started dating, but she first appeared on his Instagram on January 11, 2023, in Hawaii at the Sentry Tournament of Champions.

He shared a Valentine’s Day post with her the following month, and she has been a lucky charm ever since — with him winning the RBC Heritage with her in attendance in April of that year.

By September 9, 2023, the couple announced their engagement on Instagram, and just over a year later, on October 18, 2024, Matt and Katherine tied the knot at All Saints Episcopal Church near Bay Head Yacht Club in New Jersey.

The New Jersey setting, the church wedding and the yacht club backdrop painted a picture-perfect celebration for a couple whose relationship has unfolded largely in the public eye through carefully curated social media moments.

Katherine made headlines in her own right last year when she posted a video of her marking her husband’s golf balls with cute messages ahead of The Open Championship.

Some of the balls had red hearts on them, while others read “I love you” and “MF is cute.”

The clip went viral, giving fans a glimpse into the playful, supportive dynamic between the couple and cementing Katherine’s place as one of the most followed golf WAGs on social media.

Inside Matt Fitzpatrick’s Historic Golf Run — With His Family Watching

The baby announcement came in the middle of what has been an extraordinary stretch for the 31-year-old golfer.

Since his runner-up finish at The Players Championship on March 12, where he finished one shot behind American golfer Cameron Young, Matt has racked up a win at the Valspar Championship on March 19, a top-20 finish at the Masters Tournament on April 9 and another win at the RBC Heritage on Sunday, April 19.

That run amounted to nearly $8.3 million in winnings, per the PGA Tour.

Matt won the RBC Heritage in 2023. It was his second PGA Tour win. He also won the 2022 U.S. Open before his two wins this year.

After his most recent win, which ended in a playoff against world No. 1 Scottie Scheffler, Matt spoke with CBS Sports reporter Amanda Balionis in his post-match interview with his wife by his side.

“It means the world,” he said. “To win it twice means the world. To go out today and go toe-to-toe with Scottie and get over the line there on the 73rd 9hole) is special.”

During his press conference on Sunday, Matt reflected on having his family there, including his parents, Russell and Susan Fitzpatrick.

“Any win with family here is incredible,” he said. “To have my wife and my parents see me win again — my wife’s at win No. 4, my parents might be win No. 10 or 11 — it’s a rare thing.”

“It’s a rare thing to win with close family around and I don’t take it for granted. It’s really nice that they could be here for moments like this,” he said.
