NFL free agent linebacker Kyle Van Noy has never met his biological family — but he can contact them if he wants.
Van Noy, 35, revealed on the “Ross Tucker Football Podcast” that he hired a private investigator to find them “about four years ago” and now he knows who his one living parent is and he is still considering reaching out.
“I won’t disclose everything, but it was pretty cool to find out all that information,” he told host Ross Tucker on the Tuesday, April 7 episode.
He continued, “I know I have siblings elsewhere. They don’t know. This could be a whole thing. I kind of want to end up doing something with it because they don’t know I know, but I know like, everything about their lives.”
Van Noy is a two-time Super Bowl champion, winning Super Bowl LI and LIII with the New England Patriots. The BYU alum and former second-round NFL draft pick was also a Pro Bowler in 2024 with the Baltimore Ravens.
Kyle’s adoptive parents, Layne and Kelly Van Noy, raised him, but they never met his birth parents either because it was a closed adoption. Kyle soon realized he was adopted when he noticed that his height was the only physical trait he had in common with Layne and Kelly.
But while they may not look alike, Kyle credits his dad with instilling a tireless work ethic in him. He also remembered the sacrifices that his mother made in order to help support the family.
Years later, Kyle remains close with them and his siblings.
“I always make fun of them,” he said in a 2021 interview with Patriots.com. “‘Out of all the babies, you had to pick someone who’s going to be in the NFL. You guys got lucky!’ They went into the hospital and picked out of the litter, basically.”
“I’m just blessed that they’re my parents,” he added. “They’re really, really good people. I’m happy to call them Mom and Dad. They’re good ones.”
He also said at the time that he would be interested in meeting his biological family if he “had a sibling.”
“Just to see what someone looks like if they’re half of me,” he explained. “I think as I get older, you kind of want to know more medical [family history], just in case.”
Tucker, 47, asked Kyle if he would ever reach out to his biological family, and he replied “to be continued.”
“Once that door is open, you can’t close it,” he explained.
