Kai Trump subtly showed her support for Tiger Woods during an Instagram Q&A.
Kai, 18, fielded a question about where she sees herself in five years while wearing a white hoodie from the golfer’s Sun Day Red brand in a video posted to her grid on Tuesday, April 7. (She responded that she hopes to be graduating from college, competing on the LPGA Tour and maintaining her social media presence.)
The granddaughter of President Donald Trump is getting ready to attend the University of Miami in the fall, where she will compete on the golf team. Kai’s mom, Vanessa Trump, is currently dating Woods, 50.
Woods was arrested in Jupiter Island, Florida on March 27, after being involved in a car accident. Though he passed a breathalyzer test at the scene, he refused a urinalysis and was charged with DUI with property damage and refusal to submit to a lawful test. He has pleaded not guilty and is currently seeking treatment.
“I know and understand the seriousness of the situation I find myself in today,” Woods said in a statement shared via X on March 31. “I am stepping away for a period of time to seek treatment and focus on my health. This is necessary in order for me to prioritize my well-being and work toward lasting recovery.”
Kai has not publicly addressed Woods’ accident or arrest, but has spoken glowingly of him in the past. In an interview with Fox News Digital in November 2025 before she made her LPGA debut, she shared the advice that Woods gave her.
“I mean, he is the best golfer in the entire world. I would say that. And even better person,” she said. “He told me to go out there and have fun and just go with the flow. Whatever happens, happens.”
Kai’s participation at The ANNIKA came with its own share of controversy as she received a sponsor exemption, allowing her to participate due to her extensive social following, rather than the merits of her golf game.
Despite finishing the first two days of the tournament at +18, Kai had the support of English golfer Charley Hull, who watched her play.
“That’s really good, considering this is not just an easy LPGA event, this is probably one of the harder courses that we play on,” she told Golf Channel. “So, for her to come out, she had to be so nervous. It was her first LPGA event – I remember my first event I was really nervous – and she’s got a lot of pressure on her and a lot of eyes on her.”
