Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia’s wife, Kayla Vesia, is reacting to fans putting their late baby girl’s name on their baseball jerseys following the infant’s tragic death.
“I don’t like it. They have no right,” Kayla, 29, responded to a fan who asked about the trend via a comment on her TikTok video on Saturday, March 28.
Alex, 29, and Kayla — who tied the knot in January 2024 — announced the death of their newborn daughter, Sterling Sol Vesia, in November 2025. (The pair announced they were expecting in April 2025.)
“Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday October 26th,” the couple captioned a joint Instagram post at the time. “There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.”
The post continued, “Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them. Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It’s brought us so much comfort.”
The announcement came after the Dodgers announced that Alex was temporarily stepping away from the team amid a “personal family matter,” just before the World Series. (The Dodgers ultimately defeated the Toronto Blue Jays in a game 7 5-4 victory.)

“It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife, Kayla, navigate a deeply personal family matter,” the team shared in October 2025. “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family and we will provide an update at a later date.”
Alex made his emotional return to the mound during the Dodgers’ opening weekend game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, March 27. The pitcher took the field wearing a pink glove emblazoned with Sterling’s name and birthdate, as well as “K” on the ring finger of the glove.
Ahead of his season debut, Alex vowed to make Sterling proud in a poignant Instagram post.
“Same goals … different perspectives … new motivations,” he wrote on Thursday, March 26. “Thankful for everyone who has stuck by me. Dodger Nation gonna bring the energy. I’m going to make you proud SSV ❤️.”
After the game, Kayla took to Instagram to share a sweet tribute to her husband.
“Sterling and I are so proud of you,” she wrote on Saturday. “We’re cheering you on forever. ♥️”
