Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Alex Vesia’s wife, Kayla Vesia, is celebrating her 30th birthday five months after the death of their newborn daughter, Sterling Sol Vesia.
Kayla took to Instagram on Tuesday, March 31, to share photos from her birthday festivities, including snaps of a wiener dog-themed cake reading, “A weenie bit older.”
“Year 30,” the influencer wrote in the caption. “As I step into this new chapter, I hope it brings nothing but healing and love. It’s hard to want to celebrate anything but being surrounded by family and warmth on this milestone helped some light shine through.”
Kayla documented the special day via her Instagram Stories, revealing that she visited a headspa and received dozens of flowers from her friends. She also had a custom Swig beverage stand, featuring a nod to Sterling with a drink called the “Golden Sol.”
The milestone birthday marked Kayla’s first since she and Alex, 29, announced Sterling’s death in November 2025.
“Our beautiful daughter went to heaven Sunday, October 26th,” the couple captioned a joint Instagram post at the time. “There are no words to describe the pain we’re going through but we hold her in our hearts and cherish every second we had with her.”
The statement continued, “Thank you to the Dodgers for their understanding and support during this time. Our baseball family showed up for us and we wouldn’t be able to do this without them. Thank you Dodger Nation, Blue Jays organization and all baseball fans for your love and support. We have seen ALL your messages, comments and posts. It’s brought us so much comfort.”

The announcement came weeks after the Dodgers announced that Alex would be taking a hiatus from the team amid a “personal family matter” just before the World Series.
“It’s with a heavy heart that we share that Alex Vesia is away from the team as he and his wife, Kayla, navigate a deeply personal family matter,” the team shared in October 2025. “The entire Dodgers organization is sending our thoughts to the Vesia family and we will provide an update at a later date.”
Alex returned to the mound during the Dodgers’ opening weekend game against the Arizona Diamondbacks on Friday, March 27. The athlete honored his late daughter by wearing a pink glove featuring Sterling’s name and birthdate, as well as “K” on the ring finger of the glove in a tribute to Kayla.
Kayla shared a sweet tribute to her husband after the game, which ended in the Dodgers’ winning 5-4.
“Sterling and I are so proud of you,” she wrote via Instagram on Saturday, March 28. “We’re cheering you on forever. ♥️”
