I'm A Celebrity ... Get Me Out of Here
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! is a reality TV series that first premiered in the U.K. in 2002. The show takes celebrities out of their glamorous lives and drops them into a jungle or remote location, where they must complete a series of physical and mental challenges to survive. Hosted by Ant McPartlin and Declan Donnelly, the show has become known for its light-hearted yet intense format, which often tests contestants’ endurance and ability to handle discomfort, all while providing plenty of comedic moments.
The lineup of celebrities changes each season, often featuring stars from different entertainment sectors, including actors, musicians and reality stars. American celebrities who have participated in the British version include Caitlyn Jenner, Jamie Lynn Spears, Janice Dickinson, George Takei, Alfonso Ribeiro, and Kendra Wilkinson.
Contestants must navigate their way through eating challenges, fear-inducing tasks and the social dynamics of living in close quarters. In addition to the competitive aspect, the show is known for its behind-the-scenes drama and humorous moments.
I’m a Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! has also sparked international versions, with both CBS and ABC attempting to make the format work in the U.S. in 2002 and 2009, respectively. However, neither network made more than one season. The British edition has been going strong since 2002 with more than 445 episodes of television across 24 seasons.
