House of the Dragon
House of Dragon is Ryand Condal and George R. R. Martin’s prequel to Game of Thrones and is loosely based on Martin’s 2018 book Fire and Blood.
The series begins roughly 100 years after the Seven Kingdoms are united by the Targaryen conquest and nearly 200 years before the events of GoT. The House Targaryen characters include King Viserys I (Paddy Considine), Prince Daemon (Matt Smith), Princess Rhaenyra (Emma D’Arcy), Princess Phaenys (Eve Best), Prince Aemond (Ewan Mithell), Princess Helaena (Phia Saban), Lady Baela (Bethany Antonia) and Lady Rhaena (Phoebe Campbell). Other characters include Hand of the King Ser Otto Hightower (Rhys Ifans), head of House Velaryon Lord Corlys (Steve Toussaint), swordsman Ser Criston Cole (Fabien Frankel), Princess Rhaenyra’s childhood friend Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke) and knight of the Kingsguard Ser Harrold Westerling (Graham McTavish).
House of Dragon premiered in 2022. The series won a Golden Globe Award for Best Television Series in 2023. Season 2 is set to premiere in 2024.
