There are three, yes three, Hermès boutiques in the city. But that doesn’t mean it’s easy to get a Birkin or Kelly. Or, for that matter, anything else. And although you generally can walk into any one of the Hermès boutiques to browse and shop, buying a bag takes extra work.
To purchase a handbag – any bag – the Paris Hermès boutiques require you to secure a leather appointment. No big deal, you think, I’ll just book one, right? Not so fast though. You must go through the online booking system lottery. Although the odds may not quite be a million to one, it sure can feel like it.

In Paris to request a leather handbag, quota or non-quota, requires a leather appointment. There is an online system where you must apply the day before between the hours of 10:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Once submitted you will get notification of whether you were granted an appointment sometime in the evening or early morning hours.

Of course, you can always walk into one of the boutiques and inquire about leather appointment availability. It’s unlikely but not impossible, and there’s no harm in asking. Moreover, the Paris boutiques are beautiful and chock full of eye candy – items on display, those for sale, and, if we’re being honest, those carried by other lucky shoppers. You can’t go wrong paying a visit (or two or three) to any or all of the stores.
Appointments are not necessary for belts or small leather goods, like wallets and coin pouches. However, you may have to wait for assistance. The shoe department, for example, usually has a monitored line.

Also known as FSH and the Hermès mothership, this location is the flagship Hermès store set amidst some of the finest shops in the world. Here you can buy all items from every department, including silks, shoes, jewelry, homeware, ready to wear, and handbags. It also features an expansive fine jewelry and watch section as well as a whimsical display of homewares.
Beyond shopping, the boutique also houses a private museum with pieces from the Hermès family, artisan workshops, and a secret (not so secret) garden on the rooftop.

The handbag display cases alone are worth the visit. However if your trip doesn’t align with the operational hours or if jet lag keeps you up for a midnight stroll, the outside display windows are a delight.

Located in the Saint-Germain-des-Prés of Paris, the Hermès Sevres boutique is located in and around the former swimming pool of the Lutetia Hotel. Three ash wood huts have taken the place where hotel guests used to swim laps. As a nod to the previous aquatics, a nautical-themed fresco fills the walls of the store.
There are three other unique aspects to the Sèvres store.
First, it is the only store worldwide to permanently carry the Petit H line. Petit H are re-creations of Hermès items as unique and creative objects, sometimes made with scrap materials and upcycled items from workshops in France.
Secondly, it has a bookstore with a selection of fashion and art literature.
Third, it has a cafe which serves drinks and a selection of food and desserts. Everything tastes better when it sits on H Deco or Mosaique china.
Entering from the top, silks and fashion jewelry greet you. This floor is also home to the Petit H grouping, bookstore, and café. After you descend the stairs, you can browse fine jewelry, ready to wear, shoes, and handbags. The handbag display here usually is as magnificent as the one at FSH.

Hermès George V is nestled across from the famed Four Seasons George V Hotel, on you guessed it, Blvd George V. The mahogany wood façade was created by the original millner of this location, Ernest Motsch. You can still see his name etched into the front paneling. Like the other boutiques, this location carries goods from all departments, but on a smaller scale.
The first floor contains silks and leather goods. A quick flight up a winding staircase takes you to ready to wear, shoes, and jewelry collectsions. But don’t let the petite dimensions of this boutique fool you. There’s plenty to look at and purchase here.
