In the flick, Tatum's character Mike takes a young dancer named The Kid (Alex Pettyfer) under his wing and shows him the ins and outs of stripping.

"He's amazing. He's a great stripper!" Tatum's wife, Jenna Dewan -- who met her husband on the set of Step Up -- tells Us. "I should ask for more [private dances]."

"His physique is insane!" director Steven Soderbergh tells Us of the True Blood hunk. "Stripping didn't worry him."

Soderbergh cast Manganiello as male stripper Big Dick Richie after seeing him on an episode of Chelsea Lately. "Part of what we required was someone who could improv and bring a lot to the table. He was funny, smart, had a good energy and was distinctive," Soderbergh told The Advocate.

Manganiello -- who frequently shows off his bare butt on HBO's True Blood -- isn't fazed by onscreen nudity. "Somebody's gotta do it," he says. "Am I afraid of being typecast? I could care less."

"There's something about having to throw a thong on in front of other people that just instantly forms an ensemble," Bomer has said of working with Tatum, Pettyfer, Manganiello and McConaughey. "We had a great time."

"I have a newfound appreciation for women!" the White Collar star -- who doffs his duds as Ken in the film -- has said of getting waxed for his role.

"There hasn't really been a movie like this before, and we did it all on a g-string budget," Bomer tells MTV. "So I'm excited to see what people think."

Though the youngest by a decade, the star trained hard. "Nobody wanted to be the guy with even 2 percent body fat," director Soderbergh tells Us.

Pettyfer and his costars got competitive on set when filming their stripping scenes. "They are worse than women," Soderbergh explains. "They made sure that when they showed up, they looked amazing. They were all competitive. It was hilarious. But they looked great."

Engaged to Lisa Marie Presley's daughter, Riley Keough, Pettyfer doesn't see why he earns a bad-boy rap. "I think my Wikipedia is full of bulls--t because I actually don't have anything cool or interesting to be said about me," he complains. "I've heard I'm called a bad boy, or difficult -- maybe that's because I don't take any bulls--t."

"I helped design some assless chaps," newlywed McConaughey tells Us of prepping for the part of a retired stripper turned club owner. Jokes the star: "My character is so corny."

"I said [to director Steven Soderbergh], 'I gotta dance, man.' I would regret it for the rest of my life if I was in a male stripper movie and didn't get up there and strip myself," married dad of two McConaughey told The Advocate.

No butt doubles here! "That's all me up there, I don't need a stunt ass," jokes the actor, who worked two to three nights per week to master the movie's choreography.
