A historic feat! It may have been the Get Out director's first time at the award show, but it was well worth the wait. Peele became the first African American screenwriter to win the award best original screenplay at the 2018 Oscars. He was also nominated for best director and best picture.
The first time Ryan Gosling walked the Oscars red carpet in 2007, he was a Best Actor nominee for his role in the 2006 drama Half Nelson. Though he lost to Forest Whitaker, the night was extra memorable for another reason: His dates were his mom, Donna (right), and sister, Mandi!
Nominated at age 20 for Winter's Bone, Lawrence — edged out for 2011's Best Actress trophy by Natalie Portman — stunned on the red carpet in Calvin Klein's figure-flattering crimson gown. Lawrence took home her first Academy Award two years later for Silver Linings Playbook.

Times of nabbing a 2014 Best Actress nod for Gravity. "Honestly, I am beyond honored and happy. I don't need anything else. I already have the victory."
1989 was a big year for attendee Cruise, whose film Rain Man won Academy Awards for Best Picture and a Best Actor nod for costar Dustin Hoffman. Cruise has personally been nominated for three Oscars — for Born on the Fourth of July, Jerry Maguire and Magnolia — but has yet to add a trophy to his case, other than those won collectively.
Pretty woman and her man! 1990 Oscar presenter and nominee Roberts attended the show on the arm of her then-fiance, Kiefer Sutherland. Though she nabbed a trophy for Pretty Woman, the year later took a sad turn when the couple called off their engagement.
