Football Staffer at Center of Sherrone Moore Allegations Brought ‘Receipts’ to School Administrators

The University of Michigan football staff member who allegedly had an “inappropriate relationship” with former head coach Sherrone Moore provided proof ahead of his firing.

The unnamed staff member brought her “receipts” to the University of Michigan’s Administration Building on the morning of Wednesday, December 10, according to journalist and author John U. Bacon

During an appearance on Fox 2 Detroit’s Good Day Detroit on Thursday, December 11, Bacon said the staff member presented “the text messages, the emails, documents and so on, laying out the details of their relationship and the conflicts thereof.”

“The Regents and the President had enough,” Bacon explained. “[Athletic director] Warde Manuel himself fires Sherrone Moore sometime after Noon yesterday, one-on-one in their office.”

Moore “grabbed a knife apparently and threatened to harm her and harm himself,” according to Bacon.

“That’s when he came into protective custody,” Bacon said.

Moore was booked at the Washtenaw County Jail on Wednesday evening, where he currently remains. He is set for an arraignment hearing on Friday, December 12.

When asked by Good Day Detroit host Ryan Ermanni if Moore was “surrounded by mental health professionals” at the jail, Bacon confirmed those details.

“That’s correct,” Bacon said. “And should be, obviously. That is obviously a serious matter.”

Us has reached out to the Pittsfield Township Police Department for comment.

In 911 dispatch audio released by TMZ Sports on Thursday, Moore’s wife, Kelli, told authorities Sherrone was “suicidal” over losing his job.

In the same audio, Moore’s alleged victim said he had been “stalking her for months.”

No charges have officially been filed against Moore, and the Pittsfield Township P.D. said the investigation into his conduct remains “ongoing.”

“Given the nature of the allegations, the need to maintain the integrity of the investigation, and its current status at this time, we are prohibited from releasing additional details,” the police said in a statement on Wednesday. “Further details regarding the incident will be released as soon as possible.”

The University of Michigan announced Sherrone’s firing in a statement released at 4:34 p.m. on Wednesday, roughly four-and-a-half hours after athletic director Manuel, 57, informed Moore of the university’s findings.

“U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately,” Manuel said in a statement. “Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behavior.”

Moore, who just completed his second season as head coach of the Wolverines, has been married to his wife since 2015, and the couple share three daughters
