Welcome to Plathville‘s Barry Plath is ready to start dating again after his divorce from Kim Plath — but his dream girl, Sandra Bullock, may be a bit out of his league.
Barry, 58, identified Bullock, 61, as his ideal type while meeting with a matchmaker in Luxury Handbag Shopping’s exclusive sneak peek at the Tuesday, April 21, episode of the TLC series.
“For some reason I just love olive toned skin. I don’t know why that is. I really do,” he shared.
When asked what “type” of women he’d be “more drawn to” in a room full of eligible bachelorettes, Barry replied, “I guess in four words, the Sandra Bullock look. Yeah, I like Sandra.”
Barry pointed to Bullock’s role in 1994’s Speed alongside Keanu Reeves as something that stood out to him. “I mean, keep driving, keep driving,” he said, referring to the movie’s premise in which Reeves, 61, and Bullock’s characters are stuck on a bus set to blow up if they go below 50 miles per hour.
In addition to looking like the Practical Magic actress, Barry revealed the personality traits he desires after separating from Kim in December 2021.
“Right now, the word that’s coming to mind is nurturer,” Barry told his matchmaker. “I feel in past relationships maybe a little deficient in that area.”
Barry — who was married to Kim for more than two decades — seemingly took another jab at his former spouse, 53, when he confirmed he wanted someone “soft and sweet.”
“Alpha females are not — I’m not that attracted to. I’ve kind of been there, done [that],” Barry said. “I’m kind of put off by overly controlling [women]. Exceptionally put off by manipulation now.”
When it comes to his relationship faults, Barry admitted he has a few of his own.
“I can tell you right now I’m a work in progress,” he shared. “So I’m learning from past mistakes and I’m moving forward with the mindset of, ‘Well, how can I better myself?’”
As fans of Welcome to Plathville know, Barry and Kim were married 24 years before they announced their split in June 2022. The exes share nine children, eight of which appear on the reality show. (Kim and Barry’s 10th child, son Joshua, died in 2008 at 17 months old following an accident on their farm.)
Two years after leaving Barry, Kim filed for divorce in June 2022, citing their date of separation as December 23, 2021 in court documents.
During season 8 of the TLC series, Kim announced she was officially living with her long-term boyfriend, Ken Palmer, after her and Barry’s divorce was finalized sometime in 2025.
