Nicole Curtis‘ HGTV show Rehab Addict was also suffering from delays and programming issues before a racist slur scandal caused it to be canceled.

Rehab Addict premiered on the DIY Network in 2010 before moving to HGTV four years later. Season 9 initially aired two episodes in June 2025 before it was put on pause with no explanation.

The hiatus came amid scheduling changes at the network, which resulted in the cancellation of five shows: Battle on the Beach, Farmhouse Fixer, Married to Real Estate, Bargain Block and Izzy Does It.

“I made the executive decision to shelf the rest of our new shows until fall. I appreciate your support and understanding for the late notice,” Curtis wrote via Instagram at the time. “It’s just a lot of hours (my hours) to get a show on air and we (my family + me) thought – why are we giving up summer when we have the ability to do this in the fall?”

After Curtis hinted at a return for months, Rehab Addict was expected to be brought back in February 2026. The same day as its premiere, news broke that RadarOnline published footage of Curtis using the n-word while completing a renovation project for the series.

“There is more to this, but my family comes first and I need to be mom right now more than anything else,” Curtis wrote via Instagram Stories after Rehab Addict was officially canceled. “I will take the time to be as I’ve always been with you, transparent and honest. TMZ called me as I had just turned my phone on after being at school – I said this briefly – but there is more …”

Rehab Addict‘s ninth season premiered in June 2025 but only aired two episodes. My Lottery Dream Replica Luxury Handbag later aired in its place, which Curtis addressed at the time.

“Thank you to the powers [that] be at HGTV that were receptive to our idea. … Without a doubt, I, truly, am beyond happy with this decision as I just spent the day with a phone that was dead and had no worries about it,” Nicole Curtis wrote via Instagram at the time. “They are airing Lottery Dream Replica Luxury Handbag in my place. Fun fact, [Lottery Dream Replica Luxury Handbag host] David Bromstad was my pregnancy beach buddy as we were filming and living next to each other in Gulf Shores, Alabama, for Beach Flip. … So, don’t be spreading rumors that he replaced me — I chose it.”

Nicole Curtis broke her silence on her show being replaced after it only aired two episodes.

“I made the executive decision to shelf the rest of our new shows until fall. Nicole Curtis addressed when — and if — Rehab Addict would return, writing via Instagram, “So, last Tuesday, I received the Grama Fay text, ‘Where the Hell is the show?’ I can’t make this up. I forgot to tell her.”

Curtis joked that her grandmother was just as upset as fans were about the change.

“Now, the secret is, she’s viewed, pretty much, every bit of footage and my rough cuts, but she has an 80′ tv and she likes to see the final product on there,” she noted. “So, weekend in my hometown happened. 88 years young on the boat all weekend spotting for me. We got caught in one h of a thunderstorm, right before this pic, but that made for a greater tale to tell.”

According to Curtis, she hadn’t “picked a new airdate yet” after Rehab Addict was pulled from the air. She also pointed out that the first two episodes of season 9 were available to stream on HBO Max, in addition to the rest of the series — and other specials including Rehab Addict Lake House Rescue, Rehab Addict: Detroit, Rehab Addict Rescue and Beach Flip.

Nicole Curtis addressed why the show has yet to return to air. “I hear you -ITS FALL!!!!and I promised you the episodes in Fall. It’s still Fall,” she wrote via Instagram. “I had a really great network call today and I was asked the same question -where’s the shows? I recut them.”

Nicole Curtis poked fun at herself for continuing to delay the remaining episodes of Rehab Addict. Curtis wrote via Instagram to her followers that they “will have an airdate when I return,” adding, “Yes, on HGTV, yes, it’s still Rehab Addict, yes, I KNOW I SAID FALL -but in my defense, I didn’t say Fall of 2025. After a video of Nicole Curtis using a racial slur surfaced, HGTV confirmed the show was pulled. (The moment in question was caught on camera but did not air when the episode originally premiered in June 2025.)

“HGTV was recently made aware of an offensive racial comment made during the filming of Rehab Addict. Not only is language like this hurtful and disappointing to our viewers, partners and employees — it does not align with the values of HGTV,” HGTV told Luxury Handbag Shopping in a statement. “Accordingly, we have removed the series from all HGTV platforms. We remain dedicated to fostering a culture of respect and inclusion across our content and our workplace.”

Warner Bros. Discovery ultimately pulled the rest of the planned new episodes off HGTV’s schedule and removed past episodes from HBO Max and Discovery+.
