Sydney Sweeney and Jonathan Davino called off their engagement earlier this year, but they haven’t fully cut ties.
“They had been together for so many years and their lives are very intertwined,” a source exclusively tells Luxury Handbag Shopping, sharing, “It’s hard for them to just pull the plug and stop all communication.”
While the former couple were spotted together in Florida over the weekend, the insider says “the wedding is still off” and they’re strictly platonic. “Sydney and Jonathan have maintained a good relationship during this time and aren’t back together,” the source explains.
For now, Sweeney, 27, and Davino, 41, are “figuring things out” as they navigate their new normal apart.
Despite their recent catch-up, Sweeney “is still maintaining that she is single and very focused on work,” the source adds.
The Euphoria alum sparked dating rumors with Davino in 2018. Us confirmed in March 2022 that the couple were engaged.
The following year, Sweeney and Davino faced a relationship hurdle when rumors surfaced that she was having an affair with Anyone But You costar Glen Powell.
Both actors denied the rumors, but a source exclusively told Us in May 2023 that the scandal was a “huge test of [Sydney’s] relationship” with Davino.
As Sweeney and Davino got back into their own rhythm, the actress told Entertainment Tonight that she was “so busy working” that they hadn’t set a wedding date. “I’m a workaholic and I love it, I love it,” she said in December 2023.
Although they overcame the affair rumors, Sweeney and Davino never made it down the aisle. Us confirmed in March that they called it quits.
The former couple, however, have remained in each other’s lives, due in part to their joint Bel Air house. Prior to their split, Sweeney and the filmmaker purchased a mansion in Los Angeles in May 2023, which is currently being renovated.
“This home was supposed to be their family home together,” a separate source exclusively told Us earlier this month, noting that Sweeney is still “extremely passionate” about it.
The house is a constant tether between the exes as it’s nowhere near completion. “They have talked about selling the home once it is done down the line and are hoping to make a profit but haven’t made a decision yet,” the insider said, adding that for now, Sweeney “spends a lot of her time in Florida” and her other L.A. pad.
