Paul Feig is sharing an update on his longtime friend Blake Lively as the first trial date in her ongoing legal battle with Justin Baldoni nears.

“Blake is great. She’s great. She’s just, you know, soldiering on,” Feig, 63, told Extra while walking the 2026 Oscars red carpet on Sunday, March 15. “She’s such a great mom and that’s such the biggest part of her life that she just continues to be wonderful and their kids are great.”

Lively, 38, and her husband, Ryan Reynolds, share James, 11, Inez, 9, Betty, 6, and Olin, 3. The pair try to keep their kids out of the spotlight and away from any celebratory red carpets.

“She has a happy marriage,” Feig added, “and I love her.”

In addition to having a long-term friendship with Lively, Feig has been able to work with the Gossip Girl alum. The pair collaborated on the 2018 thriller A Simple Favor before reuniting for its sequel, Another Simple Favor, in 2025.

“Blake is an amazing collaborator, so when I read people’s misconceptions about how movies are made, it’s just frustrating for me,” Feig previously shared with Esquire U.K. in April 2025. “Every star I’ve worked with works this way. The idea that a star just shows up and you go ‘Here’s the script’ — please point me to one movie star who works that way.”

Lively is currently in a legal battle with Baldoni, 42, who previously served as her It Ends With Us costar and director.

In late 2024, Lively sued Baldoni, accusing her costar and director of sexual harassment and orchestrating an alleged smear campaign against her. Baldoni has vehemently denied the allegations and subsequently countersued Lively. His lawsuit, however, was dismissed by a judge in June 2025.

Although the case was previously expected to be tried in court this month, Judge Lewis J. Liman pushed the initial court date to May due to impending criminal trials he is overseeing.

“As important as this case is … criminal trials take precedent,” the judge previously shared.

His dear friend’s legal drama aside, Feig was simply excited to attend the 2026 Oscars at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood and witness the Bridesmaids cast’s onstage reunion.

“I haven’t seen them all together since we did the movie,” he shared with Extra. “I mean, maybe the premiere and a party or two, but yeah. So, it’s going to be so nice to see them up on stage.”

For Hollywood’s biggest night of the year, Paul wore a Tom Ford suit and posed for photos with his wife, Laurie Feig.

“Heading to the Oscars to see the Bridesmaids cast present,” he wrote via Instagram before showtime on Sunday. “Hard to believe it’s been 15 years 👰‍♀️🤵‍♂️.”
