Patrick Mahomes Shares Heartbreaking Message After Chiefs’ Super Bowl Defeat: ‘I Let Y’all Down’

Patrick Mahomes is reflecting on the Kansas City Chiefs’ bitter Super Bowl LIX defeat.

“Appreciate all the love and support from #ChiefsKingdom,” the Chiefs quarterback, 29, shared via X late Sunday, February 9, after his team lost the big game to the Philadelphia Eagles in a 40-22 defeat.

“I let y’all down today. I’ll always continue to work and try and learn and be better for it,” Mahomes continued. “Want to give thanks to God for every opportunity he has given me.”

The QB concluded his post, “We will be back.”

Patrick had support from his wife, Brittany Mahomes, who watched Sunday’s game from a suite inside the Caesars Superdome in New Orleans just four weeks after giving birth to the couple’s third child, daughter Golden. The couple tied the knot in 2022 and are also parents to daughter Sterling, 3, and son Bronze, 2.

Brittany, also 29, was seen posing near the field with Sterling and Bronze during Sunday’s Super Bowl. She looked chic in an off-white corset and pants set featuring the word “Chiefs” in red cursive writing down one pant leg. She also wore a miniature off-white jacket.

The Mahomes announced the birth of Golden via Instagram on January 13. “•Golden Raye Mahomes• 1/12/25🎀✨,” they captioned a photo of the newborn’s feet.

Even though the delivery occurred on what would typically be a game day for Patrick, he was able to be with Brittany for the special moment after the Chiefs earned a playoff bye week. One week after giving birth, Brittany returned to Arrowhead Stadium to cheer on her husband as the Chiefs’ postseason run began. She also joined him on the field to celebrate after the Chiefs won the AFC Championship Game against the Buffalo Bills — securing their Super Bowl 2025 spot — on January 26.

Earlier this month, Brittany shared an update on her health since welcoming Golden.

“Ever since I have been home from having Golden I have had a green recovery score (except the first night),” she wrote via her Instagram Story on Monday, February 3, sharing a photo of her status on Whoop, a wearable fitness tracker.

She continued: “I’m very confused but I also am just happy to not be pregnant and tired all the time. Less sleep better recovery?? Make it make sense.”
