Paige DeSorbo is ready for a single summer, but her therapist’s wise words about her love life are still echoing in her head.
“It was literally [like] getting hit in the face with a brick,” DeSorbo, 32, exclusively told Luxury Handbag Shopping on Wednesday, May 7, reflecting on the time her therapist told her she’d only dated men who pursued her and “never picked out” her boyfriend herself.
DeSorbo recalled, “I was like, ‘Oh, my God, I don’t think the girls know this, that we’re not picking our boyfriends.’ She said that to me in my early 20s and I just always remembered it.”
The Summer House star teased that — even with that knowledge — she doesn’t “want” to pick out her next suitor following her split from Craig Conover in November 2024.
While promoting her partnership with Braun for their Silk Expert Pro 3, DeSorbo told Us that she is “excited” to go into this summer as a single woman.
“I haven’t been single for a summer in a while, but I’m also excited too because I’ve never been single in my 30s, and I feel like it is just drastically different than your 20s,” she said.
DeSorbo noted that one of the biggest differences between her 20s and 30s is that she “can’t go to a club until 1 a.m.” anymore, joking, “I’ll spontaneously combust.”
The “Giggly Squad” podcast cohost explained, “Socializing single is very different in your 30s, but it’s very chic. It’s like, ‘Sorry, I have a business dinner. Can’t come on a date.’ I love saying that.”
DeSorbo confirmed, however, that she hasn’t “been really dating,” so she doesn’t have any “disaster” date stories to report. (Us confirmed in March that Conover, 36, is dating model Natalie Buffett after his three-year relationship with DeSorbo came to an end.)
When it comes to a new man, DeSorbo is looking for different things than she was the last time she was single. “I don’t care if he can go out and stay out and hang out with my friends. I’d actually prefer if he didn’t want to do that,” she said with a laugh. “I’m just looking for someone that meshes easily with my life, and being a reality TV person isn’t the easiest thing.”
DeSorbo noted that it would be nice to date someone who has “some sort of love for reality TV” but confessed, “I don’t think [them] being on it is what I need.”
When the right man enters her life, DeSorbo said she just wants to make sure he’s a “nice person” who loves his mom and wants to “call her occasionally.” She joked that she’s “not running resumes” for eligible bachelors, but “if someone sends theirs in, I’ll take a look.”
In addition to gearing up for a single summer in the Hamptons, DeSorbo has been expanding her business empire. She recently teamed up with Braun for its Smoothskin Collection available at Target.
“Summer’s about to be here,” DeSorbo told Us, noting that these products provide “smooth” skin “throughout the whole summer” and beyond. (Results last for one year.)
