‘Nobody Wants This’ Season 2 Trailer Questions If Kristen Bell, Adam Brody Interfaith Romance Is ‘Doomed’

Season 2 of Nobody Wants This briefly offers a glimpse at Kristen Bell and Adam Brody‘s happily ever after, but their characters quickly start to question whether their romance will make it amid interfaith issues.

Netflix released the first look at the upcoming season on Thursday, September 25, which started with Joanne (Bell) and hot rabbi Noah (Brody) enjoying their new relationship before reality set in. More specifically, Joanne’s agnostic beliefs quickly created some conflict as she learned more about Noah’s Jewish values.

“Noah and I are figuring out how to be a ‘we,'” Joanne said before another scene hinted at tension when she denied having plans to convert.

There was also the question of kids, to which Joanne replied, “Well, we haven’t gotten that far.”

Noah, meanwhile, seemed more hopeful about his future with Joanne — at least initially.

“Part of being in a relationship is dealing with these issues. And we will,” he told Joanne, who added, “I feel like we’ve been saying that a lot lately.”

At the end of the trailer, Noah had a change of heart while questioning whether they were “doomed” as a couple. “Excuse me? You’re not allowed to — no,” Joanne fired back. “I’m the cynical one.”

The sneak peek also introduced Us to some new faces, including Leighton Meester, Seth Rogen, Miles Fowler, Alex Karpovsky, Arian Moayed and Kate Berlant. Meester’s guest spot is especially interesting since it reunites her with offscreen husband Brody.

Meester, 39, and Brody, 45, started dating after they reconnected on the set of 2011’s The Oranges. Since taking their relationship public, they have appeared together on Single Parents, River Wild and an episode of Meester’s new CW show, Good Cop/Bad Cop.

“Oh, that would be really fun,” Meester told TVLine in February about making a cameo on Nobody Wants This before her casting was announced. “I’m a big fan. So, yeah, that would be awesome.”

When asked about her favorite scenes from Nobody Wants This, Meester added, “Honestly, all of it’s pretty good. I liked watching all the basketball stuff. I thought that was pretty funny. … Like I said, whenever I watch him onscreen, I just forget it’s him, really, and this show is no exception.”

She continued: “I just am a huge fan of the show and of his work, and so, I, like most of the audience, was really rooting for the two of them, and I loved how deeply developed both the characters were and how they got to be these imperfect people, finding each other.”

Season 2 of Nobody Wants This premieres October 23 on Netflix.
