The Real Housewives of Atlanta star has been cast as Madame, the wicked stepmother in Rodgers and Hammerstein's Cinderella on Broadway.
According to Broadway World, the Glee actress will join the cast from Nov. 25 to Jan. 3, taking over the role from Sherri Shepherd, who hits the stage for the first time on Tuesday, Sept. 9.
Adams played Giselle in 2007’s Enchanted. The Disney film — which combined animation with live-action sequences — also starred Patrick Dempsey and Susan Sarandon. Leakes will be joining the stage alongside previously announced KeKe Palmer, who will mark the first African-American to portray Cinderella on Broadway.
"I feel like the reason I'm able to do this is definitely because Brandy did it on TV," Palmer told the Associated Press of the fairy tale gig. "In me doing this, it shows everybody that everything is possible … Every girl's dream is that story, so to be able to play [Cinderella] is going to be a dream come true for me. Not to mention that Stuart Weitzman made the glass slippers I'll be wearing."
