The week before Thanksgiving is a busy one at Prime Video.

The streamer debuted its latest action-comedy, Playdate, starring Kevin James, which instantly became its most popular movie of the week.

It also dropped all six episodes of its newest thriller series, Malice, starring The X-Files veteran David Duchovny as a rich man harassed by his male nanny. No, we’re not making that up.

Also popular this week is the first Wicked with Ariana Grande and the holiday movies Red One and Tyler Perry’s Finding Joy.

Buddy action-comedy fans will surely like Playdate, which pairs two men who are the complete opposites of one another in a plot involving guns, assassins and … playdates. When recently unemployed accountant Brian (Kevin James) reluctantly agrees to a playdate with stay-at-home dad Jeff (Alan Ritchson), he thinks he’s in for a boring afternoon.

But little does he know that Jeff’s past comes back to haunt both of them, endangering not only their lives, but their sons’ as well.

The bitter Grinch (Jim Carrey) plans to ruin Christmas for the Whos of Whoville, but his best laid plans may be thwarted by the young and naive Cindy Lou Who (Taylor Momsen), who sees only the good in the furry green creature. Will Cindy’s pure love for him melt what’s left of the Grinch’s small, cold heart?

Are you ready to go back to Oz? Wicked: For Good is just around the corner, so fans are gearing up by rewatching last year’s hit first installment. Wicked stars Tony Award-winning actress Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba, a green-skinned outcast who befriends the very blond and bubbly Galinda (Ariana Grande).

Their unlikely friendship is soon tested when they both fall for the handsome Fiyero (Jonathan Bailey) and Elphaba uncovers a conspiracy involving the Wizard of Oz (Jeff Goldblum). The film’s climactic number, “Defying Gravity,” still packs a wallop, even if it’s been covered to death by amateur singers far less talented than Ms. Erivo.

Prime Video excels in YA drama, and it doesn’t get any better — or spicier — than Maxton Hall.
