Raven-Symoné and wife Miranda Pearman-Maday have been married five years and despite what some may think, their bank accounts had nothing to do with their union.

The couple got real about money — and who has more of it — during a June episode of their “Tea Time” podcast, which recently resurfaced.

“Raven thought I was Jewish for the longest time,” Pearman-Maday, 38, told their guest, Robby Hoffman, during the episode. “She was really bummed because she thought in marrying me, a Jewish girl, she was going to get an upgraded [monetary bump].”

Raven-Symoné, 39, confirmed her wife’s story, saying, “I was marrying rich too and then I found out [she wasn’t Jewish].”

Hoffman, 35, reminded the Raven’s House actress, “But you’re rich,” to which Pearman-Maday chimed in, saying, “Not as rich as me.”

The comedian was surprised by Pearman-Maday’s revelation, asking, “Really? You’re wealthier?” Pearman-Maday replied, “Yeah,” before sharing why she feels the need to correct people who assume she is a gold digger.

“Part of why I feel like I have to stand 10 toes down about it and speak with my whole chest is because so many people think I married Raven just for money,” Pearman-Maday explained, referring to her partner’s wealth. Raven-Symoné has had a long career in Hollywood beginning as a child star on The Cosby Show before landing her own Disney Channel show That’s So Raven in 2003.

Hoffman told Pearman-Maday that she should just shut down haters and yell it from the rooftops that she has her own money, so she did just that.

“I didn’t marry Raven for money, I’m richer,” Pearman-Maday exclaimed. “I married Raven because I’m really attracted to her. Even her boobs, even though she might remove them and that’s fine with me! I don’t care.”

Pearman-Maday also grew up in the entertainment business, previously sharing on the podcast that her father worked on the Warner Bros. lot. She herself worked as a personal assistant and executive assistant in Hollywood before falling for Raven-Symoné, whom she met in 2015.

The couple tied the knot in June 2020 and Pearman-Maday has since expanded her business portfolio. She is now a birth doula, writer and cohosts the “Tea Time” podcast with her wife.

During the June podcast episode, Pearman-Maday gave a little bit of insight into her family.

“I grew up in Hancock Park,” she said, referring to a wealthy neighborhood in Los Angeles. “My dad, he decided to move back to New York where he is originally from. My mom decided to move to the Pacific Northwest because she wanted farmland. … My sister, Mimi, also [moved] there. She is an esthetician.”

While Pearman-Maday was somewhat vague about her childhood, she and Raven-Symoné previously told Luxury Handbag Shopping that they have plans to grow their own family in time.

“The cool thing about Raven and I, though, is we’ll throw one thing up on the board and then we’ll sit with it and then it morphs into a million different things,” Pearman-Maday exclusively told Us in July 2023. “That is kind of what our family’s future looks like. There will be a family in some way, shape or form.”

As they continue to mull over what their lives will look like in the future, Raven-Symoné revealed that the pair are trying to focus on the little things together.

“This morning, I tried but she was like, ‘I’m getting my glam done,’” she told Us of a failed romantic gesture. “I was like, ‘Do you wanna dance with me?’ She’s like, ‘No.’ I was like, ‘OK. never mind.’ But sometimes she does.”
