TLC’s Unexpected returns in February 2026 with dramatic new stories of teenagers navigating parenthood.
Season 7 follows a brand-new cast of eight teenagers throughout their pregnancy journeys, as they break the news to their families and experience the challenges of becoming teen parents. Cameras follow every step of the way as the Unexpected cast members face worrying financial realities and potential physical challenges that come with having a baby at such a young age.
This season of Unexpected features perhaps the show’s most shocking story ever with the introduction of 13-year-old Hunter, who is expecting a baby with his 15-year-old girlfriend, Bella. Hunter was only in eighth grade when cameras started rolling on Unexpected season 7 — and the age difference between him and Bella has led to significant controversy for TLC.
Unexpected season 7 premieres Monday, February 16, at 9 p.m. ET on TLC. Keep scrolling to meet the cast.
Mia and Jessie, Both 16

Much of the drama around Mia and Jessie’s relationship centers around their moms clashing. Mia is 30 weeks pregnant at the beginning of filming, which means decisions have to be made about who can support her in the delivery room.
Mia confirms that her mom, Nicole, was “on and off being in jail” throughout her childhood, so Jessie’s mother, AK, believes she is more deserving of being by the couple’s side as their child is born.
“Not to be mean or rude, but I would think that I earned that spot before her mom,” Jessie’s mom AK insists in a confessional interview.
The conflict erupts in a face-to-face argument between Nicole and AK, as they attempt to resolve whether there’s any way to move forward positively.
Isabella and Bryce, Both 18

Isabella and Bryce’s parents are feuding over whether the teens will be able to support their newborn. Isabella’s mom warns her daughter that she’s being “weak” for not pressuring Bryce into taking anger management classes.
“I feel like Bryce is this way because there’s nobody telling him that what he’s doing is wrong,” Isabella’s mom, Tasha, declares.
Bryce’s mom and grandparents are equally irate over the interference in their son’s life — with his grandmother accusing both Isabella and Tasha of “evil” behavior.
“I think her mom is sticking her nose in and telling Isabella what to do … Isabella and her mother treat us like crap,” Bryce’s grandfather complains in the trailer.
The tension culminates in a heated screaming match between Isabella and Bryce where he takes off his microphone and refuses to continue filming.
Bella, 15, and Hunter, 12

The most startling story of the season is Bella and Hunter’s relationship. While TLC has said that Hunter was 13 by the time filming kicked off, Bella, 15, later clarified that he was actually 12 when their child was conceived and then turned 13 a few days later.
“I understand it doesn’t make it any better. I understand he was sexually ready faster than I was, and that’s OK, but I was ready when we had sex,” she said via TikTok in January 2026. “You can all stop saying that it was illegal and that I raped him because I didn’t. It was both intentional. On both sides, people have already said that. We’ve already talked to the cops about it. It was consensual.”
There has already been outrage over Unexpected featuring such a young child on the reality series. Bella’s father, Kris Vaughn, and his wife, Falen Vaugh, responded to controversy around Unexpected season 7 with a defiant TikTok in January 2026.
“Due to all the trolls and the women quickly being known as what I have to say on TV as ‘the unscrewables,’ they are going to make season 7 hot. It’s going to be a hot season,” he warned.
Throughout the season, Bella grows frustrated with Hunter’s apparent lack of involvement in her prenatal care and even threatens to break up with him unless he starts making more of an effort.
Amya and Jose, Both 16

One significant story line for the expectant parents will delve into Amya grappling with body issues throughout her pregnancy. She steps on a scale that says she weighs 340 pounds in one scene.
Amya is later shown admitting in a trailer that she’d been given misinformation about whether or not larger people can conceive children.
“I heard my mom say it was harder for bigger girls to get pregnant,” she admitted. “Like, there was no way.”
Jose struggles to comprehend Amya’s insecurities around weight until she finally opens up to him over not being able to fit on a theme park ride.
