Memory of a Killer premiered in January with Patrick Dempsey embodying one of his most complex roles to date. But who does he play on the Fox series?
Dempsey portrays lead character Angelo Doyle/Flannery, who is “leading a dangerous double life while hiding an even deadlier person secret — he has developed early onset Alzheimer’s,” according to a Fox press release issued in July 2025.
The show, which is inspired by the book De Zaak Alzheimer, is a thriller that shows Angelo’s “typical suburban life” with his family — he has one daughter — as it begins to meld into his life as a secret hitman as his memories get jumbled.

Patrick Dempsey
Patrick Dempsey plays Angelo Doyle and Angelo Flannery, one is a suburban dad and widower who sells photo copiers and the other is a hired hitman. Throughout the show, Angelo begins to lose his memory and his lives begin to blur — which could lead to death, destruction and more damage than anyone could predict.
Odeya Rush
Odeya Rush portrays Angelo’s only child, daughter Maria Kahn, who is pregnant with her first baby. “It’s so important for her to keep him close because Angelo is the only family she has left,” Rush said of her character in Fox’s January 12 preview.
Michael Imperioli
Michael Imperioli’s Dutch Forlanni is Angelo’s connection to the underworld. According to Fox’s preview of the series, “Dutch and Angelo grew up together. They have a very close bond.”
Imperioli teases in the clip that Dutch owns an Italian restaurant that is not only “his world” but “also his cover for running this very serious criminal operation.”
Richard Harmon
Dutch’s nephew, Joe Ferrera, is played by Richard Harmon. Richard also serves as Angelo’s right-hand man when it comes to his assassin work.
Daniel David Stewart
Daniel David Stewart plays Angelo’s son-in-law, Jeff Kahn, who is married to Maria. The couple, who are expecting baby No. 1, are unaware of Angelo’s real job.
Peter Gadiot
Peter Gadiot’s Dave Woods is a local police detective who is friends with suburban Angelo. Despite working in law enforcement, he has no idea that Angelo is living a double life.
Gina Torres
Alongside local police, Memory of a Killer features Gina Torres as FBI Agent Linda Grant, who is highly suspicious of Angelo.
Richard Clarkin
Richard Clarkin plays Angelo’s brother, Michael Doyle, who is suffering from Alzheimer’s disease.
“His older brother Michael’s disease is progressing rapidly. And he’s concerned about his own health,” Dempsey said of Angelo and Michael and their family history with the disease in Fox’s preview of the series.
Michaela McManus
Michaela McManus is a recurring character, Nicky, who is Angelo’s love interest and unaware like his family that he has a darker side.
Ian Matthews
Ian Matthews plays Earl Hancock, the drunk driver who went to prison for killing Angelo’s wife, Leah (the actress has yet to be revealed). During season 1, fans will see what happens when Earl gets out of jail and whether the new threats against Angelo’s family are a direct result of his release.
