Mary Cosby Plans to Continue Filming ‘The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’ After Son Robert Jr.’s Death (Exclusive)

Mary Cosby intends to be part of The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City’s future as she mourns the death of her son, Robert Cosby Jr.

“Mary is planning on moving forward and will film The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City,” a source exclusively shares with Luxury Handbag Shopping. “Filming will start next week. Robert Jr. will be talked about, and Mary is aware and open.”

Earlier this week, a source revealed to Us that production on season 7 was originally scheduled to begin the week of February 23. Any filming, however, was paused after news broke that Robert Jr. had died at the age of 23.

While Mary’s mindset about filming could change in the future, an insider shared, “The ladies have all been rallying around her and lifting her up. They are all mothers and have been so supportive and empathetic toward her. They are all heartbroken by the situation and can’t imagine. All of them have been checking in on her.”

Us has reached out to Bravo for comment.

The Salt Lake City Police Department previously confirmed to Us that authorities responded to a dispatch call for an overdose at Mary, 57, and Robert Cosby Sr.s Utah home on Monday. Robert Jr. was found deceased upon authorities’ arrival. He was 23.

A death investigation was immediately opened and is currently active. While an official cause of death has yet to be revealed, 911 audio revealed Robert Jr. was administered a dose of Narcan, a spray used to counteract the symptoms of a drug overdose.

“Our beloved son Robert Jr. has been called home to the Lord,” Mary said in a statement to Us, confirming her son’s death. “Though our hearts ache, we take comfort in God’s promise and in knowing he is finally at peace. We are grateful for your prayers and trust in the Lord to carry us through this time of sorrow.”

Bravo also released a statement on behalf of the network after learning about Robert Jr.’s death.

“We are heartbroken to learn of the passing of Mary’s beloved son, Robert Jr.,” the statement read. “Mary is a cherished member of our family, and our thoughts, love and deepest condolences are with her and her loved ones during this incredibly difficult time.”

Mary has been candid on the Bravo show about her efforts to support Robert Jr. amid his substance abuse and mental health struggles.

During The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City season 6 reunion, which aired in January, Mary shined a light on how she was feeling about her son serving a jail sentence after pleading guilty to trespassing.

“I know he’s somewhere where he’s not using. At some point, I have to step back so that he can learn and he can make his own decision,” she told host Andy Cohen. “Unfortunately, he is learning the hard way, but I’m OK with it. You don’t want to see your kid suffer, but I know it’s good, and I’d rather him be there than dead.”

May God bless your family and may his memory be eternal. I love you Mary.”

Meredith Marks added, “I love you and your family Mary. You will always be family. Robert will always be remembered and may he rest in peace.”
