Love Is Blind season 10 participant Brittany Wicker was just as surprised as Us to learn that her ex-fiancé, Devonta Anderson, is about to be a dad.
“The child thing was more shocking for the fact that [he has] had at least three major relationships in less than a year,” Brittany, 33, said on the Friday, March 13, episode of “The Viall Files” podcast. “The engagement, I’m still suspicious on if that is actually factual or just an in-the-moment, ‘I’m gonna blurt this out.’”
Brittany was briefly engaged to Devonta, 32, on Love Is Blind season 10, where they initially met sight unseen. The duo ultimately agreed to call off their wedding after each questioning whether they would be a perfect match.
Brittany and Devonta reunited at the Wednesday, March 11, reunion, where he confirmed that his new fiancée is pregnant.
“I wanted to go into this to be a husband and a father, those were two of the most important things for me,” Devonta said at the time. “I got some exciting news that I am gonna be a father this year.”
Devonta further revealed that he was engaged to the mother of his unborn baby without offering additional details.
At the time, Brittany coyly noted to hosts Nick and Vanessa Lachey that she wasn’t “fazed by” Devonta’s update. Her dad, however, shook his head in shock.
“I want you to be OK,” Brittany’s dad told Devonta moments earlier. “Bro, you got to get some help with that. You got to face that stuff because if you don’t face it, it’s gonna come get you. It bothers me that people are destroying you. … I hope you learn from this.”
He also asked Devonta whether he was ever ready to marry Brittany.
“At the time, I truly thought I was, but I’m not,” Devonta admitted during the tell-all. “I did take a moment away. I took two or three days where I needed to go sit with me before making that decision. … I guess, I don’t like to quit.”
As Devonta prepares for his next chapter, fellow Love Is Blind alums have predicted how he’ll be as a first-time father.
“I had no idea … that was a stunner,” Jordan Faeth exclusively told Us earlier this month. “I think Devonta is a really loving guy, and especially once he’s decided, so I do think [he’ll be a good dad]. I’m excited for him. I’m happy for him because he does seem genuinely really, really happy about it.”
Mike Gibney, for his part, also told Us that his pal will “absolutely” be a great father.
