By day, Matthew Stafford is the starting quarterback for the Los Angeles Rams. But when he gets home, he’s just dad.

Matthew’s wife, Kelly Stafford, shared two videos of Nest camera footage via her Instagram Story of Matthew, 37, arriving home early Monday morning, January 26, after his Rams lost to the Seattle Seahawks in the NFC Championship game the night before in Seattle.

“After leaving everything out on that field and coming up short, at 2:30 am, this was Matthew,” Kelly, 36, captioned the first slide.

The security cam shows Matthew walking into his daughters’ rooms to give them each a kiss goodnight. Kelly and Matthew share four daughters: twins Sawyer and Chandler, 8, Hunter, 7, and Tyler, 5.

When the kids finally awoke, Kelly and Matthew had a surprise for them. On the next slide, Kelly showed a box of donuts that the couple got for the girls with a hand-written note on top.

“Thenk you for being such rockstars for me all season long!” the note read. “Y’all were the inspiration for daddy’s incredible year! We ♥️ you!”

The Rams’ loss to the Seahawks on Sunday, January 25 marked the end of Stafford’s 17th season in the NFL and his fifth with Los Angeles. Despite his age, Stafford has one of the best seasons yet, throwing for a career-best 46 touchdowns with a 65 percent completion rate. He also threw only eight interceptions for the third time in the last four years.

Kelly and the girls were with Matthew the entire season, often in-person. In December, Tyler went viral for celebrating one of her dad’s touchdowns with a perfectly executed dance to Taylor Swift’s “The Fate of Ophelia.”

The Staffords have been open about parenting four girls over the years, thanks in part to Kelly’s “The Morning After” podcast, which is currently on hiatus. Matthew appeared on a June 2025 episode where he gushed about his daughters.

“I have so many good, sweet moments with my girls,” he said. “Being a parent, for me, is the least outward facing thing I can do. When I am with them, I am totally focused on them one hundred percent. I could care less about what somebody else is going with their kid, or what kind of cool trip they had.”

He also addressed not having any boys. Having a son, he said, would have been “extra challenging.”

“I’ve known what it’s like to have expectations since I was 15 years old or so, probably,” Matthew explained. “I thank my lucky stars that I didn’t have that from six to 15.”

He continued, “I was able to just be a kid who could throw a ball a little bit and was good at other sports and had fun and didn’t have to worry about what my Dad did, and whether or not I was going to live up to whatever somebody else thought I was going to have to live up to. I didn’t have that until I was somewhat grown enough to kind of figure it out myself.”
