Several members of the Kelce family have plenty of thoughts about Taylor Swift’s new raunchy song “Wood.”

The ninth track off Swift’s 12th album, The Life of a Showgirl, is one of the many songs that the pop star wrote about fiancé Travis Kelce. While Swift starts out singing about superstitions, things turn sensual real quick.

“Forgive me, it sounds cocky / He ah-matized me and opened my eyes,” Swift sings in the chorus. “Redwood tree, it ain’t hard to see / His love was the key that opened my thighs.”

While promoting The Life of a Showgirl, Swift opened up about the origins of “Wood” and how it started as an “innocent” idea.

“I brought this into the studio and I was like, ‘I wanna do sort of like a throwback kind of timeless-sounding song,’” Swift explained during an October 2025 appearance on The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon. “And I had this idea about, ‘I ain’t gotta knock on wood,’ and I would knock on wood and it would be all these superstitions. And it really started out in a very innocent place. I don’t know what happened, man. I got in there, we started vibing and I don’t know, I don’t know how we got here. But I love the song so much.”

After the release of The Life of a Showgirl, Travis’ brother, Jason Kelce, immediately asked him about the track.

“Do you feel — not confident — do you feel cocky about the song ‘Wood’?” Jason asked during an October 2025 episode of the brothers’ “New Heights” podcast.

Travis played it cool, saying, “No,” and began to share his appreciation for Swift’s writing before Jason interjected, “That’s not just any song. This is a very specific you.”

“I love that girl, so what do you mean?” Travis said coyly, “Any song that she would reference me in that way…”

Jason interrupted his brother by saying, “It’s not just you. It’s an appendage. It’s a very specific thing.”

While interrogating his little brother about “Wood,” Jason quoted the track to him and made a comparison to himself.

“Travis, come on,” the retired Philadelphia Eagles player said. “Redwood tree ain’t hard to see… I thought redwood, that’s a little bit, that’s a generous word, I think. I think if somebody wrote a song about me, it’d be like, ‘Japanese maple sometimes can see.'”

Despite referring to himself as “more of an ornamental bush,” Jason expressed his appreciation for the innuendos.

“I think inserting wood innuendos is always childish enough for me that I can get on board with that,” Jason added.

Despite Jason’s attempts to get a reaction out of Travis about “Wood,” the Kansas City Chiefs football player kept it diplomatic.

“That song’s great though,” he said during their podcast. “The freaking beat to that song is fantastic and that’s right up my alley, so well done. I think it’s a great song.”

Kylie Kelce

Jason’s wife, Kylie Kelce, shared her thoughts on The Life of a Showgirl during an October 2025 episode of her “Not Gonna Lie” podcast. While sharing her favorite songs, Kylie couldn’t help but address “Wood.”

“And who are we kidding? ‘Wood,’” Kylie said. “Here’s the deal. Do I need that much detail, specifically about my brother-in-law? Probably not. But also … ”

Kylie then started clapping as she quipped, “Good job, Trav. That’s it.”
