Former Chicago P.D. costars Jesse Lee Soffer and Tracy Spiridakos continued to fuel dating rumors with their latest outing.
Spiridakos, 36, took to Instagram on Monday, December 9, to share a sweet selfie with Soffer, 40, writing, “Wine and cigar night 😁.” The actress smiled in the pic while sitting beside Soffer, who rested his leg on her chair with a cigar in his mouth.
Spiridakos and Soffer met on the set of the Dick Wolf police drama while playing Hailey Upton and Jay Halstead, respectively. Their fictional characters had a slow-burn romance that led to them tying the knot on screen before getting divorced.
Soffer shocked fans in 2022 when he announced his exit from the show.
“I guess the word is out. Jesse, what can I say, you’re the absolute best. Thank you for your kindness, your guidance and your friendship,” Spiridakos wrote via Instagram at the time. “You’re the greatest onscreen husband a girl could ask for. I’ll miss being on set with you every day. I can’t wait to see what the world has in store for you next. #upsteadforever.”
News subsequently broke in October 2023 that Spiridakos was leaving Chicago P.D. after season 11.
“I decided at the end of my sixth season (a.k.a. season 10 of the series),” she told Variety in May. “Which is when I had reached out to [showrunner] Gwen [Sigan] and to everyone at Wolf to let them know that I just wanted to do one more year.”
Spiridakos called the decision “very, very hard,” adding, “I was just curious what was out there for me and wanted to switch it up, and that was it.”
Despite no longer sharing the screen, Spiridakos and Soffer have continued to spend time together. The pair even enjoyed a trip to Lisbon, Portugal, in August.
“Europe is is kinda cool 😘😘,” Soffer captioned an Instagram post showing him and Spiridakos exploring Lisbon together.
Sharing her own recap of their travels, Spiridakos gushed via Instagram, “Lisbon, you’re a beauty ❤️.”
The snapshots had some fans convinced the pair transformed their characters’ chemistry into a real-life romance, with social media users gushing over the “beautiful couple” in the comments section. Another fan wondered whether the former costars were “finally launching this relationship,” but neither Soffer nor Spiridakos have addressed their status.
While he left the One Chicago universe, Soffer is still in the Dick Wolf franchise. The actor currently plays Wes on FBI: International.
“On [Chicago] P.D., Halstead had a lot of baggage by the end of 10 seasons,” Soffer exclusively told Luxury Handbag Shopping in October of his former detective character. “There’s someone [who has] gone through a lot of traumatic stuff.”
Soffer said Wes is “totally new” with a “different demeanor” and a “different attitude.”
“Obviously, I love Wolf films and they’re near and dear to my heart. To get this opportunity was like, ‘Oh, no, this was not on my radar at all, but OK, let’s do it,’” he recalled. “[There was] no way of predicting it. No way of knowing.”
