Like many Teen Mom fans, Catelynn Lowell is waiting for news about the MTV reality show’s future.

“We should hear something soon,” Lowell, 33, shared in a TikTok Live with YouTubers Elle Bee and Rei Clarke on Monday, November 3. “I think as far as I know, they have laid off a bunch of other people last week, but they kept two of our high, high executives on our show, so that’s a plus, but you never know.”

According to NBC News, Paramount laid off nearly 1,000 employees on October 29.

Paramount, which is now officially known as Paramount Skydance, owns CBS as well as BET, MTV and Nickelodeon.

“They don’t have to give any of us Teen Mom people [answers] until, like, May. That’s when our contracts are coming up,” Lowell claimed. “They’re obligated to give us an answer by that time, basically. We haven’t heard. We haven’t heard anything bad, but who knows?”

Luxury Handbag Shopping has reached out to MTV for comment on Lowell’s claims.

In September, news broke that MTV’s long-running reality show Catfish would be ending after 12 years and nine seasons.

One month later, Us confirmed that the cable network was also officially saying goodbye to Ridiculousness after 46 seasons on the air.

According to a source familiar with the situation, MTV is working to “reimagine” the network. The insider added that the network will “feature a more curated slate” going forward to embrace its “experimental DNA.”

“Basically, what they’re doing now is they’re going through every show and everything that they own with a fine-tooth comb,” Lowell claimed. “They’re figuring out what costs too much money to make, what doesn’t.”

When asked what she and husband Tyler Baltierra will do if the Teen Mom franchise is canceled, Lowell joked that she would join Feet Finder and “smash around some grapes for you.”

All jokes aside, the former 16 and Pregnant star said she will likely focus on her PodcastOne project called the “Cate & Ty Break It Down” podcast.

“I think we’re just going to keep hustling the podcast, honestly,” she said. “I feel like that is a certain platform where we can literally be who we are. We can talk about whatever we want to and not have to feel like we have to talk about certain things.”

As for Teen Mom costar Amber Portwood’s recent TikTok Lives, where she claims the MTV reality show is canceled, Lowell suggested it’s best not to believe everything she says.

As Lowell explained, “She’s not the one paying the bigwigs that ran our show that are still there getting paid.”
