Taylor Swift has a lot going on at the moment, which doesn’t include hitting up the 2026 Grammy Awards.

The pop superstar, 36, was not in attendance for the Sunday, February 1, awards show held at Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles.

As the ceremony began, fans took to social media to express disappointment that Swift wasn’t dancing in the audience with a drink in her hand, as she is known to do at awards shows.

“Oh taylor swift the grammys will miss you,” one fan wrote via X, sharing photos of the “Cruel Summer” singer at the 2025 Grammys.

“Where’s taylor swift #GRAMMYs,” another user added, while a third person shared, “At this hour Taylor Swift would be dancing and with her little glass in her hand #Grammys.”

Ahead of Sunday’s Grammys ceremony, rumors swirled about whether or not Swift would be there. Despite the fact that she was not nominated this year (her most recent album, The Life of a Showgirl, won’t be eligible until the 2027 Grammy Awards), fans hoped she would at least show up to present an accolade to a fellow artist, perform solo or hit the red carpet with a famous friend. Swifties had their fingers crossed that she would even simply be a spectator in the audience.

Earlier this month, Grammys executive producer Ben Winston shut down speculation that Swift would be a surprise performer during the telecast.

“The only reason people think Taylor might be performing or coming is because HITS decided to print it this week and put it in their HITS List, and it was picked up globally,” Winston said during a January 22 interview with HITS. “But HITS just totally made that up.”

He added, “Now I am getting asked about it by you, as if it’s a real thing, when it was made up in your office! That really is a full-circle rumor!”

In recent years, Swift has become a frequent nominee at the Grammys, with nods for eight consecutive years from 2018 to 2025. However, she did not always attend the ceremony even when she was nominated, opting to skip the event altogether in 2018, 2019, 2020 and 2022.

Still, fans have grown used to seeing Swift steal the show at the Grammys, whether she’s posing for the camera at the star-studded event or living her best life while dancing in the crowd. In February 2025, she enjoyed herself at the ceremony despite losing all six of the awards for which she was nominated. The 14-time Grammy winner had quite a memorable night, dropping jaws in a red Vivienne Westwood mini dress, dancing along to performances by Sabrina Carpenter and more artists as well as presenting Beyoncé with Best Country Album.

Swift has been keeping a low profile since her fiancé Travis Kelce’s NFL season ended in January. More recently, the couple were spotted on a rare date night in Los Angeles as they dined at Beverly Hills restaurant Funke.

As Kelce, 36, weighs his decision about potentially retiring from the Kansas City Chiefs, his and Swift’s wedding plans are “coming along,” a source exclusively told Luxury Handbag Shopping in October 2025.

“They are both [very] involved, and Taylor thinks it’s cute that Travis wants to help,” the insider said, noting that the pair hoped to tie the knot over the summer.

“They don’t want a long engagement,” the source revealed at the time, adding that Swift and Kelce “very much want to start a family in the next year or so. Family means everything to them.”
