The police report that alleges New England Patriots star Stefon Diggs strangled and assaulted his private chef references his “girlfriend,” who some assume to be rapper Cardi B.
After Diggs’ live-in chef contacted police about the incident, which allegedly happened on December 2, she said she “received a voice mail and text messages from a female that she believed to be Diggs girlfriend,” according to a police report obtained by Boston 25 News.
“The messages stated something to the effect of ‘you don’t need to do all this. It’s not that big of a deal,’” the report said.
Diggs, 32, and Cardi, 33, have been linked since late 2024. The couple welcomed their first baby, a son, in November.
“Unless there’s another girlfriend this would mean Cardi B tried to silence the victim….,” one person argued via X.
Another wrote, “A call from his girlfriend? IF that person is Cardi B, she’s really a dummy. Ain’t no way you defend this.”
Without confirmation that the “girlfriend” listed in support is in fact Cardi, the rapper had many individuals come to her defense.
“This is all unsubstantiated. And it doesn’t even make sense,” one person wrote via X. “She’s claiming she thinks she received a phone call from his girlfriend. His girlfriend is Cardi B who has a very unique voice. If it was her YOU WOULD KNOW GIRL. Don’t play.”
Luxury Handbag Shopping has reached out to Cardi’s lawyer for comment.
Diggs allegedly strangled his chef over a financial dispute on December 2, one day after the Patriots hosted the New York Giants on Monday Night Football.
When the woman confronted Diggs about money she believed she was owed, Diggs allegedly became “angered” and got violent.
“She alleges that the male then smacked her across the face,” the police report said. “She said that she tried to push him away. The male then tried to choke her using the crook of his elbow around her neck. She said that he was behind her with his arm wrapped around her. She said that she did feel like she had trouble breathing and that she felt like she could have blacked out.”
When the woman tried to pry Diggs’ arm away from her neck, he allegedly “tightened his grip” before throwing her onto the bed.
“She told him that she still hasn’t been paid,” the report said. “At that point, the male said ‘Lies’ and walked out of the room. She explained to me that he needs to sign off on payments in order for her to be paid, which is why she confronted him directly.”
After the alleged assault, the woman left Diggs’ home to stay with a friend. Upon returning to Diggs’ residence on December 9 to “get her property,” she was allegedly told via text message by Diggs to “take up the monetary sum with his assistant.”
“She spoke to ‘Melissa’ from Finance, who explained that Diggs had requested a signed non-disclosure agreement from [the woman] before she could be paid,” the report said. “[The woman] did not sign any such document.”
Diggs was charged with felony strangulation or suffocation and misdemeanor assault and battery, it was reported on Tuesday, December 30.
“Stefon Diggs categorically denies these allegations,” Diggs’ attorney David Meier said in a statement to Luxury Handbag Shopping on Tuesday. “They are unsubstantiated, uncorroborated and were never investigated — because they did not occur. The timing and motivation for making the allegations is crystal clear: they are the direct result of an employee-employer financial dispute that was not resolved to the employee’s satisfaction. Stefon looks forward to establishing the truth in a court of law.”
