HBO Max subscribers have enjoyed a strong lineup of movies in December, but the impending end of the month means that several fan-favorite films are on their way out.

However, there’s still more than enough time to catch some of those favorites if you start making your plans now.

To save you some time, the Watch With Us team has put together our picks for the four movies leaving HBO Max in January 2026 that you have to watch right now.

Our picks range from action to horror and romance and feature such stars as Jennifer Lawrence, Robert De Niro and more.

After knocking the Hell out of each other in Godzilla vs. Kong, the title characters have entered into the buddy-action phase of their careers in Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire. Following the events of the previous film, Godzilla and King Kong went their own ways, and the latter returned to the Hollow Earth.

Three years later, a new threat emerges that’s going to draw Godzilla and King Kong back together again. They can’t exactly banter with each other, but the unlikely duo will team up for their common good. But if they’re already joining forces for the second movie, how are they going to top it in the third Godzilla x Kong movie?

Godzilla x Kong: The New Empire will leave HBO Max on January 3.

Jennifer Lawrence won her first — and to date only — Oscar for Best Actress for her turn as Tiffany Maxwell in Silver Linings Playbook. Tiffany is a widowed woman with a mental disorder who meets a man, Pat Solitano Jr. (Bradley Cooper), who has bipolar disorder and an unhealthy fixation on getting back together with his cheating ex-wife, Nikki (Brea Bee).

To get Pat to agree to be her partner in a dancing competition, Tiffany agrees to be his go-between in an attempt to win back Nikki’s love. This connection is something that both of these broken people badly need in their lives, but they need to realize it first or else the bond they’ve created may slip away.

Silver Linings Playbook will leave HBO Max on January 1.

Ice Cube stars in Barbershop as Calvin Palmer Jr., a man who doesn’t realize what he has until it’s almost gone. Calvin inherited a barbershop from his father, but he can’t climb out of his financial hole while running the shop. That’s why he opts for easy money by selling it to a loan shark, Lester Wallace (Keith David).

After taking the day to think about it, Calvin rethinks his decision and tries to back out of the deal. Lester is less than willing to cooperate, and Calvin may need the money he just made to save one of his employees, Ricky (Michael Ealy), from going to prison for a crime he didn’t commit.

Barbershop will leave HBO Max on January 1.

Maika Monroe made her name as a scream queen for her turn in It Follows, one of the most inventive horror films of the last two decades. Monroe plays Jaime “Jay” Height, a young woman who is happily dating Hugh (Jake Weary) until he passes along a curse as the ultimate STD.

Hugh warns Jay that a creature that only they can see will be coming after her forever unless she passes the curse on to someone else before it starts the cycle over and over again. Jay is hesitant to believe any of it, but the creature’s attacks quickly convince her that it’s real. How do you fight an enemy like that? Jay and her friends have some ideas, but It proves to be more formidable than they imagined.

It Follows is streaming on HBO Max until January 1.
