The Golden Bachelor’s Faith Martin came close to objecting to Gerry Turner and Theresa Nists wedding moments before they said “I do.”

“That night, I really contemplated being the one that stands up at the wedding and objects,” Faith shared on the Friday, January 16, episode of iHeartRadio’s “Almost Famous OG” podcast. “Can you imagine? I wanted to do it so badly, and I thought my producer would kill me.”

Podcast host and former Bachelorette Trista Sutter then joked that the producer might have been into it, saying, “But they also would have been like, ‘Well, this is a moment.’”

According to Faith — who was one of the final three women on Gerry’s season in 2023 — she was able to talk in private with her ex.

She quickly realized Gerry had doubts about whether a wedding was truly the right path forward.

“He was like, ‘I don’t want to do it. I don’t want to do it.’ And he’s like, ‘I think I got too wrapped up in the moment, and I don’t think I should do it,’” Faith recalled. “And I was like, ‘Well, don’t do it.’ He goes, ‘I made my bed. I did this to myself. I got to do it.’ I’m like, ‘No, you don’t, and you should tell Theresa, and she’s probably feeling the same way.’”

Gerry and Theresa got married during a live TV wedding in January 2024 at the La Quinta Resort & Club in Palm Springs, California. The ceremony, broadcast on ABC, was officiated by fan-favorite contestant Susan Noles.

Three months later, the couple announced on Good Morning America that they were getting a divorce.

Nearly two years later, Faith still vividly remembers how she felt when trying to celebrate the couple’s nuptials.

“I did not sleep for about four days that I was there at the Golden wedding,” she said in her latest podcast interview. “I was trashed because I knew way too much, and I sat up in bed not being able to sleep, and I went, ‘Oh, my God, I am living a soap opera on a TV show, but it’s the real soap opera that nobody knows about that is far more disturbing than the little soap opera that I’m in.’ It was so weird.”

At one point in the TV special, the cameras caught Faith crying during the ceremony. Looking back, the Bachelor in Paradise alum said she was emotional for “so many reasons.”

“I’m crying because the man I love is marrying a woman that I’m not so sure he loves yet telling her that he loves her,” she said. “And knowing Theresa well enough to know this is never going to work between the two, so those were my feelings going on.”

Gerry shared more about his divorce in a November 2025 book called The Golden Years. In the personal read, Gerry confirmed he spoke to Faith the night before his wedding and felt “trapped” in his situation.

“I felt like I was doing the right thing. I just didn’t feel overjoyed about it,” Gerry told Us in an October 2025 cover story. “So much of the book is about how I felt at certain moments, and that’s only a momentary truth … I had second thoughts, but I don’t think [they] were exaggerated from anyone’s normal second thoughts.”

Theresa responded to Gerry’s feelings in a statement to Us that read, “It makes me very sad to think that he felt empty and trapped. I wish he had said something and just ended it. But at least now I understand why he was so hurtful to me so many times. And I will say this. Those in glass houses should not throw stones. I do wish him all the best.”

To this day, Faith doesn’t want to pick anyone’s side. In fact, she believes each party has their valid feelings and assessment on the situation.

“I hear Theresa and how she talks about it. I hear Gary and how he talks about it,” she explained. “I think both are honestly telling their truth. I think that’s how they perceived it with their own lens, their triggers, what was going on in their lives. … I love them both, and I think they’re both right, and they’re both true and justified in their feelings.”
