Everything to Know About Florence Pugh and Andrew Garfield’s Movie ‘We Live in Time’

Florence Pugh was “honored” to work alongside Andrew Garfield on the upcoming movie We Live in Time.

“Oh, my God, I’m excited about that movie,” Pugh told Entertainment Tonight in February 2024, gushing over her experience on the set. “We just had the most beautiful time making it — we made a real story about real people and I got to work with the most unbelievable actor that I feel so honored to be in his presence and shout lines back to him.”

Pugh noted at the time that she was “still in love with the process” of collaborating with Garfield and director John Crowley, also known for his work on Brooklyn and The Goldfinch.

“I hope people appreciate watching it,” she added, of the film that will be released in cinemas on Friday, October 18.

By April 2023, Pugh and Garfield were filming in London. They were spotted strolling through a park and chatting in front of a store in the first photos from the production.

Production company StudioCanal describes the film as a “funny, deeply moving and immersive love story,” and the script was written by British playwright Nick Payne.

The trailer, which dropped in July 2024, revealed that Pugh and Garfield’s characters meet after she hits him with her car, launching their years-long love story. The first clipteased from the beginning of their relationship to welcoming a daughter together — but tragedy strikes when Pugh’s character gets sick.

Speaking to Indiewire on October 10, Garfield opened up about his character Tobias and how tapping into his emotions helped the portrayal.

“I guess I’ve worked hard just to be able to have access to all of my feeling life, as much as possible, as a person and as an actor,” Garfield told the outlet. “With Tobias, it’s interesting, because I think he starts off pretty locked off. He’s sealed off from the world intentionally at the beginning of his chronological journey. He’s trying not to feel. He’s trying to be safe, and then he gets hit by the car. It’s like his heart gets cracked open in that process. I think it is understandable that he would’ve been terrified to feel, because he knows on some level that, once he’s cracked open, he won’t be able to stifle the tears.”

Who Stars In ‘We Live in Time’?

Pugh and Garfield lead the movie as Almut and Tobias, respectively. We Live in Time also stars Adam James, Marama Corlett, Aoife Hinds and more.
