Dylan Efron gave his all on Dancing With the Stars season 34, but is there another competition show in his sights?
“It’s been fun. I’m getting back to my older routine,” Efron, 32, exclusively told Luxury Handbag Shopping while attending The Voice season 28 live show red carpet on Monday, December 15. “I definitely miss it, but my body’s still beat up. I’m getting back to surfing and I got my dog back, so it’s nice to feel normal again.”
Efron impressed DWTS fans throughout his season 34 journey with pro partner Daniella Karagach. The duo made their way to the season finale last month — with a few of their dance moves inspiring viral challenges along the way. Efron and Karagach, 32, ultimately landed in fourth place. (Robert Irwin and Witney Carson were crowned the winners.)
While he shined bright on the ballroom floor, Efron isn’t as convinced he’d find success on The Voice — unless there was a minor change in the rules.
“[With] The Voice, you have to sing well to start. … If it was the same format, take non-singers and make them into singers, I might have a chance,” he teased.

For now, Efron will take on a cohosting role on The Voice with fellow DWTS alum Ariana Madix. The pair are set to team up for a preshow airing Tuesday, December 16, before the two-part season 28 finale concludes.
“I’m excited to be doing [this] with Ariana,” Efron told Us. “We were talking about hosting when I was talking to her at Dancing With the Stars. So then for this to come up, it’s like, kind of full circle.”
Before Carson Daly takes over for the live finale, Efron and Madix, 40, will recap performances from finalists representing coaches Michael Bublé, Reba McEntire, Niall Horan and Snoop Dogg. During the first part of the season finale. Fans will also get to hear from the remaining contestants and some of the guest artists who made appearances throughout the season.
“I do think it’s going to be a lot of fun,” Madix told Us on Monday. “Dylan and I are going to be hanging out, having a blast. We’re going to be talking to a lot of really amazing people, and I’m very excited to see these live performances that are for the finale. Everyone is just so talented.”
Madix added that it’s “tough” to root for just one artist as the finale grows closer. “They’re all so good and they’re all so different,” she explained. “You know, each finalist is bringing something so different to the table. So it’s really hard to compare.”
When asked whether she could picture herself in The Voice‘s arena full-time, Madix teased, “You know, if Carson ever wants to go on vacation and you need somebody to fill in, I totally would be down.”
Busy schedule aside, Efron is looking forward to spending some quality time with his loved ones this holiday season, including his younger siblings, Olivia and Henry.
“We always go Christmas tree shopping at Holloway’s, which is this cool little Christmas place. They give you apple cider. There’s Santa Claus, so that’ll be fun with Olivia and Henry,” he told Us. “And then, honestly, just relaxing. This year has been so amazing, and [I’m excited to] kind of have a couple weeks to take it in and just be thankful for it all.”
The Voice season 28 concludes on NBC Tuesday, December 16, with the preshow at 8 p.m. ET followed by the live finale at 9 p.m. ET.
